My City team for next season

    Mooney
    Hoggie, O Rourke, Coughlan, Carey
    Woods, Greg, O Grady, Ollie
    mulligan, colin p..

excellant backup then in devine, napier, bennet, bucks, stevo flynn
not sure only about mulligan or steve o flynn, but i reckon gunther has played mulligan all wrong so i'd give him another chance.. i mean 2 seasons ago he was banging in the goals for a ****e harps side so ..he aint the problem gunther

well he's right footed wayne .. but yea its more a fantasy team type thing / possible city 11..

devine V mooney is another tough call
what mooney is weak on ie kick outs and crosses devine excels at and vice versa

mooney is one of the best in a 1 on 1 situation and this is a weakness is devines game.

Mooney V Devine has always been a tough call for me. Both are good keepers but prone to mistakes (like them all I suppose). Both are good shot stoppers. Mooney's kickouts are a weakness and for that I would give the nod to Devine. It's good to have some competition though...

Cheers for Noel for entertaining us at half time on Sunday as well...some interesting saves in front of the Shed.

It would have to be Mooney for me. he strikes more of a resonance with supporters than say devine.

also devine has made some terrible c***-ups this season
    john flynn? - awesome!!!!!!

    Lightbulb

Has to be Devine as Mooney is too scarey coming for crosses or dealing with back passes. The fact I watched 15mins v Dundalk away before realising (when he dropped a simple high ball unchallenged) it was Mooney told me would be too much to watch him all season.

Since we clearly a long ball team now Gunther will have to look for a big strong forward. We may not agree with Gunthers style but if he finds another 5'6" striker & then proceeds to hoof the ball to him hopefully Lennox will sack him on the spot.

While I feel Devine is prob a better all round keeper, Mooneys stats were incredible, + Ive never actually been as comfortible with a keeper being on a 1 on 1 then with Mooney, and for peno's!
Devines comunication with the back 4 is very poor to say the least and he made quite a few mistakes through the year that cost us points!
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.

Who is Reynolds? I think that (from the one game I have seen him there) Greg's best position is centre midfield with C O'G. Would definitly have Napier instead of O'Rourke. Bennett at right back isnt half bad either. + Mooney for Devine

There are 3 possibles in my book. Depending on transfers it could be any one of these. The second one would be my no. 1 choice anyway.

    ---------Mooney-----------

    Carey Napier Coughlan Hoggy

    Greg Bennett O'Grady Ollie

    Jimmy Mull C.P.O.B

    ---------Mooney----------

    Carey Napier Coughlan Hoggy

    Woods Greg O'Grady Ollie

    Mull CP

    ---------Mooney--------------

    Carey Napier Coughlan Hoggy

    Greg Reynolds O'Grady Woods

    Mull CP.

Why is every body talking about Billy Woods, is there something I don't know about?

As between Mick and Mooney, I'd have to go with Mooney as he is an absoulte City legend, probably the fans' favourate player over the last few years.

Disregard the billy question folks, I've just seen the other thread. Would be great to have Billy back. He's another City legend.

    All the teams suggested

have either Woods or Ollie, neither of which we are certain to have next year.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

    re reynolds

Yous can have Rennie even if we stay up, 3 red cards and far too many bookings have made him a liability, that said, not a bad player behind it all.

The reality be that we'll have to wait and see who exactly will be around next year before we go picking teams. Someone can restart this thread at the start of July maybe???
