    Wexford FC v Bray

Wexford maintained their mathematical interest in the final play-off place with a comfortable victory against Bray this evening, but it needed a good insurance goal by Len O?Sullivan in injury time to make the game safe. Wexford started with Alex, Conor C, Dobbsy, Adam, Thomas, Eoin, Paul, Joe, Conor D, Luka and Harry. Wexford?s performance in the first half was exceptional as they murdered Bray with a high pressing game. It paid dividends immediately from the whistle as Thomas Considine was sent free on the Bray goal in the first minute but he couldn?t keep his shot on target. A minute later, Wexford were ahead when they broke again with the ball this time at Conor Davis?s feet and he gave McGuinness in the Bray goal no chance for 1-0 to Wexford. Wexford continued to press Bray back in their own half and increased their lead on thirteen minutes when a cross from the left was swept home by Dobbsy from close in. On 19 minutes, Wexford had a shout for a peno when Conor Davis was bundled over inside the Bray area but nothing was given. Dobbsy nearly made it three for Wexford but couldn?t make contact with another cross by Wexford. Two further Wexford chances finished the half when Dobbsy volleyed over when well placed and Eoin Farrell smacked the Bray crossbar with a speculative effort from almost on the touchline. 2-0 to Wexford at half-time but probably deserving of more with only Clifford of Bray really able to counteract the relentless Wexford press.

Bray certainly had more time on the ball in the second half and came much more into the game. On four minutes, Wexford’s Paul Cleary did well to clear the ball off the Wexford goal-line after a shot had been prodded past Alex Moody in the Wexford goal. On 18 minutes, Bray got a goal back when Hugh Douglas had a free header from a cross to the far post. With a half-hour to go, Jack Doherty made a welcome return for Wexford after a long injury lay-off. He soon made it 3-1 to Wexford when he met a good low cross by Adam Wells almost on the Bray goal-line. However, Bray got another goal back with five minutes to go when a cross from their left was steered home for 3-2. In the four minutes of injury-time, Wexford sub, Len O’Sullivan was sent free down Wexford’s left wing, and he very comfortably found the top right bin of Bray’s goal for 4-2 to Wexford and a deserved three points for the home side. Good performances all over the pitch by Wexford but great to see Jack Doherty back while it was probably the best I’ve seen Conor Davis play for Wexford. Crowd was reported to be 419.
