Personal opinion on the Carmarthen mess...

As any Longford Town supporter will testify, this is a huge embarrassment for Longford Town, I will not play with the embarrassment to the eL card as Longford Town are only answerable to themselves and the supporters. Some posters from other clubs are using this (along with Vaduz) to beat us. Since promotion this is probably an all time low. We have certainly been let down. And the possible fall out cannot be measured at this moment. Those long enough in the tooth will remember darker days and this is not the darkest.

It looks like the possible loss of Alan Murphy will be one of those, it would be deeply regrettable but you cannot abuse your manager and get away with it.

The result was a disaster, any back five unit that has been at Alan Matthews disposal this season is capable of keeping a clean sheet against any eL side. It isn't that we are the best in the business but they are a very decent back five when compared to in this league. They didn't show up. Neither did any of the team. To concede five goals is one thing, but the manner in which we conceded is sure to hurt and continue to hurt.

I'm certain that each player and the management team will be haunted by this disaster and in no way should any supporter feel as if their pain is any worse than any players, even though we have a right to be.

Some people are calling for Matthews head, I'm holding back because you never know what this season will bring us and come November we may still be happy, and at the end of the day I believe that we can only really judge a season at the end of the season, I'm 100% confident that the board, the management and the players will fully evaluate their season then and I hope they be man enough to take the correct road. A season is never about one game.

After all the kneejerk reactions it is time to take a calmer look at the position.
A major disappointment is not the end of the world and the reasonable result in Drigheda is a step forward. A win over Bohs would steady the ship further.
I am greatly concerned over rumours of Prunty's possible departure. Sean represents the nearest we have to a local on the team and in addition he has been one of our consistantly best players over the past three years.
Regardless of the managers attitude (whatever it may be) in relation to Sean, it is imperative that the committee do not allow his departure. For him to go would be, in my opinion, a far greater disaster then last week.

Top post no doubt about it.I think "The after match incidents" were let down for the club.Everyone was gutted and some booing was to be expected but to personally insult some of the players was a disgrace and showed up some of the idiots that follow the club.I haven't used the word support because no genuine supporter would do what some of them did.As i said we were all gutted and felt let down but it's not the end of the world and as Xlex said we have had more good days that bad and don't forget the dark days.
Now is the time to show your true colours as a fan and get behind the team more than ever.
