Them swedish lads beat Rovers a few years back in europe with alot to spare
and Rovers werent the shambles they are now if they have improved from then i think it best Cork avoid them and get someone else!
The groupings for the draw have been decided and Cork has been paired with the following seeds
1. FSV Mainz 05 (GER)
FC København (DEN)
Dundee United FC (SCO)
Djurgårdens IF (SWE)
Esbjerg fB (DEN)
I'd fancy Cork to go through if they draw Dundee. They would have a reasonable chance against the rest bar Mainz + Copenhagen. Copenhagen made a dog's dinner of their European adventure last year and will be out to make amends - so good to avoid them. Djurgården is leading the Swedish league at the moment and have a terrific striker in Soren Larsen. Beatable at the Cross I should think. Esbjerg are similar to Cork in many ways - should be tight. Know nothing abot Mainz but they are the top seeds so they must have something about them.

Theyre a totally different team to what they were then. They sold a lot of players and the players they brought in havent really given cause for joy. But saying that they are leading the Swedish league ,thanks mainly to this lad Soren Larsen. The Swedish papers are full of him moving to Schalke 04 so if Cork draw Djurgården and this lad has been sold I'd think they'll have a good chance of progressing.Originally Posted by hoops1
They only finished 3rd the year we played them if they are first now
they havent got worse! i wouldnt believe media reports Im sure the swedish media are like ours and the english media they love you until your at the top
then they think your far game for criticisim
They won the league the year ye played them and no disrespect but today's Cork are a way better team than that Rovers were back then. Plus Cork have the benefit of being fully trained.Originally Posted by hoops1
Dont get me wrong, they are a good side and will be hard to beat. But they are beatable.
what was going on last night?
how can you win 2-0 away and lose 1-0 at home
i think the Dundee tie would be great a great chance to put one over on the spl
If we play like we did last night, we haven't a hope against any of those teams.....![]()
what time is the draw on?

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
I was watching the CL draw on Sky Sports News but they don't seem to be doing the UEFA probably cos there are no English teams in it![]()
I went to the home leg to cheer on Rovers (still feel dirty). They brought a huge support if I remember right. One of the biggest away supports I've ever seen at Tolka and I include Dublin derbies in this.Originally Posted by hoops1
draw on at 1pm.
Looking at the draw I think Dundee represent the least possible threat for the C/\wkies. If they get the Tangerines, it will be a huge money spinner and the best possible chance open to progress to the 3rd qualifying round.
Bohs did it to Aberdeen in 2000 so no reason why our Munster neighbours to exorcise the ghost of Longford.
Arabs .... if they get the Arabs !!Originally Posted by Partizan

I presume the 2 Danes can't play each other (?) so chances are we would get 1 of those - otherwise Dundee Utd would be a good draw. I'd prefer not to get the Germans or Swedes - they would both be very difficult to beat & wouldnt be great crowd-pullers either!
If cork win they this match aren't they in the 1st round proper of uefa cup?
Thats right - Where Shels played Lille last yearOriginally Posted by swinfordfc
If they win the tie, yes. Its the stage where Shels played Lille last year.

Dundee United is the dream draw, fingers crossed there.
Djurgarden (sweden) away first
