Yeah Steaua, they're no Welsh league side are they.

Don't even try and compare them, that's f'n pathetic, which is what Longfords result still is.

Shelbourne have disappointed themselves and possibly some other eL fans but they have not embarrassed the league whatever about our result.

Of the last 20 champions league/European Cup finals Steau have played in twice as many as Man Utd, Chelsea & Arsenal put together.

There is no comparison with a Mickey Mouse Welsh side.

Nobody abused you, the fans. They were having a go at the team and Matthews. And there were plenty of Longford fans who were (rightly) making the exact same points.

As you'll see in the Steaua match thread, Fenlon and some of the players are getting alot of stick from fans across the country, and those people are spot on, and the Shels fans are agreeing with them.

I haven't commented on the 5-1 defeat until now but i was amazed Matthews had the check to show his face on RTE last night for Shels game.

A 5-1 defeat in Europe is bad enough but losing to 6th place Welsh team was a shameful display by the Longford Town team. Almost as bad as the 10-0 aggregate lose Pats had to the Macedonians.

The Longford Town team should apologise to the eircom league.

They should not, that's bull.... The only people that deserve an apology are their supporters and the people to work hard to enable LTFC survive, nobody else. They have apologised through Digger, time to move on.

I nearly split my sides when he went on saying how poor defending will be punished at this level. What was he sayoing to ferguson last week. Oh yeah he was to busy licking his @rse. The result & performance in Wales was a disgrace no excuses.How people can come on here and reckon we owe the EL an apology is beyond me.We got the same points as Cork and i don't feel like they owe the EL an apology.It's just typical that some people wait in the wings and as soon as you are down they kick as you as hard as possible and when you slag off our team or our management you do insult us.Most of us love our team and will stick by them no matter what and when you come on here spouting crap about LTFC i for one will do my best to stand up for my team.
As i said, the result & performance in Wales was a disgrace but we're not the first EL club to mess up in Europe and we won't be the last.
Anyone who really believes that LTFC should not qualify for Europe as to help the League is a complete and utter idiot and should organise they're own little league where only 3 or 4 teams can play in and where they can all qualify for Europe but if they get a bad result they are kickenot allowed qualify again.
Finally,each and every club has a bad result which hurts to the bone and ours just happened to be in Europe so get over it.

As another foot.ier has quite rightly pointed out, you should remain very quiet because you never know when defeat/humiliation/embarrassment is about to visit you.

If I were you, I'd be extremely worried that a team that lost to Camarthen 5-1 was able to HAMMER Rovers in Dayler a couple of short months ago (finished two nil, but should have been at least six.) Now, what does that say about YOU ??

Its an honour to take abuse off someone whose own fans thinks he's a joke. Would that be the supporters who have taken over the club? Who have funded the running of the club for the last 4 months? Who have stuck by the team week in week out for 18 years since we had a home?

We may have lost to you but we didnt lose to a welsh team 5-1 FFS so that is a comparison worthy of a "mook".

Don't crow too much too early, Shamrock Rover are not relegation proof yet.

As for the FAI cup, and I propose that it is held as an annual one off match between Cork City and Shelbourne, as they cannot win it themselves when other inferior teams are allowed enter the competrition. This would also ensure, that the biggest moans in the Eircom League would be guaranted entry to competitions which they cannot always obtain through their own domestic performances.
Maybe we should also let them form their own "Superior League" so that they never have to rub shoulders with the other "lower class" clubs. They would just spend the year playing with themselves as befits a crowd of W-nk-rs.

shels at least won through two games before losing to a handy former EC winning team. you lost to lichensteinian and welsh opposition ffs. its simply not good enough.

and before you start, rovers have had some pathetic results in europe too. 8-1 to zabrize in 1994 was horrific, but the difference is we acknowledge hat fact.

I fully expected Shels to win by 3 or 4 and I feel so ashamed today for what happened. Sorry about that Longford but go carry on building up the EL coefficient and maybe some day Shels will take Europe serious along with yourselves.

5-1 to a welsh team is the worst result I have ever seen on the back of two against Vaduz where you are meant to show it was just a blip and you are really a good side.!! Crazy ...

As for the kicking you when you are down rubbish. Im not kicking anyone but Alan Matthews and his team. Go replace the idiot before he does it again. Or else if you want to finish 5th and maybe win a cup every year then hold onto him.
