Dubliner Jamie Devitt (32) has been re-signed by Carlisle on a one-year deal (BBC Football). Devitt made 16 appearances for Hull City in the Championship back in 2010/11, but since then the midfielder has played for another 12 clubs in 'the lower leagues'. There's a documentary waiting to be made about some of these lads who earn a living beneath the radar of most fans back in the Emerald Isle.

Former U-21 cap Jamie Devitt has retired, aged 33. He had most recently played for Workington (Northern Premier League) on loan from Carlisle. Devitt came through the academy at Hull, but made only 19 appearances for them. He played for more than a dozen other clubs, most notably for Morecambe (84 appearances, 10 goals) and Carlisle (130 appearances, 22 goals). (the72.co.uk/2024)
