In the third in the series of programming tutorials based on appearance data for Republic of Ireland players, I explain how to show that
1) The Ireland team against Scotland in September 2022 was the youngest to start a competitive game since a qualifier against Cyprus in November 1980
2) Stephen Kenny has given 15 players their debuts - the same number as Brian Kerr
sort of a follow up to the video, how do you calculate the average age of a team?

I'm joined by Mark Kennedy of Hawkeye Sidekick to review the Republic of Ireland's women's friendlies against the US in Austin and Missouri, discuss the group draw for the UEFA Under 17 Championship, and announce our initiative to encourage fans of the women's team to update the wikipedia page for each member of the squad before the World Cup kicks off in July

What does the initiative announced on the podcast entail?
Well, we had discussed amongst ourselves what to do in the build up to the first appearance by the Girls In Green at this summer's FIFA Women's World Cup, and, having read of other similar initiatives to improve the quality of women's articles in certain fields (science, art, history, etc) we thought this would be an excellent opportunity for a collective effort by fans of the team to make as much information as possible available before the tournament kicks off in July. So, what does this entail?
For the next eleven weeks, we're going to ask fans to focus on a single position within the squad, read through the articles for the players in that posistion, and either correct any mistakes you notice, or add something to it. This can be as little as correcting a spolling mistake (like that one!), or adding a line about their debut to their career history, to adding their international record.
We're starting this week with the goalkeepers named by Vera Pauw in the squad to face the United States recently - Courtney Brosnan, Grace Moloney, Megan Walsh, and Sophie Whitehouse - as well as recent callups Naoisha McAloon, Katie Keane, and Eve Badana.
Read the linked articles for each player, see if you notice anything that is incorrect, or if you know anything that can be added, feel free to do so.
England/Ireland qualified midfielder Stan Flaherty (21) has been released by QPR. Previously with Arsenal and Newcastle, he scored 7 and had 3 assists in 24 PL2 appearances.
Twitter are making massive changes to their API* this weekend, so how will it affect the live updates from the Irish Abroad twitter account and the live updates?

*API is an industry term that stands for Application Programming Interface, it's the methods made available by a company (Twitter, Google, Facebook, Amazon, etc) to use their services, e.g. to post an update, or image, or video, or read user information
Sheffield Wednesday have released 5 of their U-21s and 5 of their U-18s, but Manchester-born left-back Cian Flannery (18), who is eligible for Ireland, has been offered a professional contract. (Yorkshire Live).
This was posted over in the LOI forum. A great article and analysis of transfers from the League of Ireland to League One.

Been adding the appearances and goals by year table to the various player articles for the last few weeks, and found something odd. Claire O'Riordan's profile page on fai.ie says she has 17 caps, but I've found 18 games where she made an appearance.
Added them all to the "Talk" section on her wiki page here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Claire_O%27Riordan
Continuing the theme of "missing caps from player profiles", it looks like Katie McCabe's two goals against Wales in a challenge game in 2016 are not included in her profile on fai.ie
Not a big deal, but it looks like caps were awarded to her, and the rest of the squad, for those two games, so why not recognise the goals?
Also, Megan Connolly is listed with 38 caps on fai.ie but has appeared in 41 games

Former Ireland U-21, Scunthorpe Utd and Derry City centre-back Cliff Byrne has joined up again with Grant McCann, as McCann's Asst. Manager at Doncaster Rovers. Byrne was Asst. Manager to McCann for 18 months at Hull City (2019-2021), but the pair were sacked when new owners Acun Medya Group arrived. (Hull Live)

Players released so far by EFL clubs include Olamide Shodipo and Conor Masterson (QPR), Daryl Horgan (Wycombe Wanderers), Ryan Delaney and Dan Crowley (Morecambe). (East Anglian Times, 15 May).
Masterson has already agreed a move to Gillingham, where he was on loan the last two seasons.
They're fourth tier - they looked odds on for relegation this season when scoring 7 goals in the first half of the season, but their second half was promotion form.
