The Technical Director of the Nigerian Football Federation, Austine Eguavoen, was in London at the end of last month to court a number of players of Nigerian heritage but born outside Nigeria. Among them was Tayo Adaramola, the Crystal Palace and Republic of Ireland U-21 defender. (The Street Journal, Nigeria, 5 Jan)

I'm guessing probably not an all-time record or anything, but the 10 Irish players that featured in the Derby v Cheltenham game tonight must be the highest in an English league game for a while.
It's the most Irish players to appear in one game since a Championship game between Leeds and Sunderland in September 2006!
Gary Kelly, Paul Butler, and Jonathan Douglas started for Leeds
Kenny Cunningham, Liam Miller, Graham Kavanagh, Daryl Murphy, and David Connolly started for Sunderland, and Liam Lawrence and Stephen Elliott came off the bench for the Black Cats

The League 1 Team of the Season so far (based on Who Scored ratings each week) includes David McGoldrick and Eiran Cashin.
Looks like Wigan will be relegated, having been deducted 3 points for late payment of players. Will Keane and James McClean are out of contract this summer and could move elsewhere as free transfers, but Anthony Scully (23) has another couple of years on his contract and Jamie McGrath (25) one more.
