    Wexford FC v Treaty

Draw a fair result in Ferrycarrig tonight which keeps Wexford in the hunt for the final playoff place. Wexford started with Alex, Paul, Luka, Conor C, Conor D, Jack, Dobbsy, Len, Harry, Frieler and Lorcan. Massive contrast in styles right from the off with Wexford probably taking 7-8 more touches on the ball compared to each one by Treaty with their very direct play, but there’s more than one way to skin a cat and attempts on goal were pretty even. The goals came right at the start of the game. Wexford almost scored right from the off but a Wexford shot from close in was scuffed before former Wexford player, Dean George, ran through the Wexford defence on two minutes to finish well past Alex Moody in the Wexford goal. Wexford equalised almost immediately after the concession of the goal when, on six minutes, Aaron Dobbs had a shot deflected past Jack Brady in the Treaty goal. Wexford probably had the better of the chances in the remainder of the half, particularly when Dobbsy had a chance of a volley into an empty Treaty net when Brady collided with his own defender. Conor Crowley then went close for Wexford and Conor Davis had a header which went over. 1-1 at half-time.

In the second period, Treaty probably had more of the ball in the Wexford half than the home team would have liked with Alex Moody pushing away a Treaty header from a free for a corner and then preventing a good Treaty effort on goal from going in. A triple substitution by Ian Ryan with Thomas Considine, Conor Barry and Adam Wells coming on seemed to add more momentum to the Wexford attack. Thomas Considine nearly got through on the Treaty goal before Jack Doherty had a good chance but put it over the Treaty bar. Dinny Corcoran became the final sub for Wexford with ten minutes to go and almost immediately set up Jack Doherty with a smartly placed header but Jack came off the effort slightly to curl it wide from inside the Treaty area. In the final minutes, Treaty had the ball in the Wexford net but the goal was ruled out for offside. In a game where Wexford were challenged a lot in the air, it was those who won the aerial duels, such as Paul Cleary, Luka Lovic and Lorcan Fitzgerald who impressed the most with Alex Moody doing well to catch his quota in goal for Wexford in the swirling breeze. For Treaty, Dean George did well up front for them with Joe Gorman rock-like in a solid Treaty defence. Attendance was reported to be 313.
