Keane only started 2 games out of Spurs' 4 and scored a brace in each game. 2 against Sundowns and now 2 this morning in the 3-1 win over a full strength Lyon team in the final. Lyon had the likes of Essien, Diarra, Pedretti, Govou and Wiltord in the starting line-up.
First Keane goal was a header.Didn't see the game but Keane was supposed to be excellent.
Kelly sent in the cross which Berthod sent into his own net and some sites have Kelly down with the goal. Reid played very well and won possession to set off Mido for one of the goals.
Good news with France coming up in a couple of months. He looks certain to be staying at Spurs and will probably start as first choice or not far off.
What position did Reid play - central or wide? I see they have some new guy, Tianio or something like that.
Kelly, Reid & Robbie seem to be doing pretty well in pre-season. In a way I hope Robbie spends time rotating with the others. It'll keep him fresh & hungry, and hopefully injury free too.
i think tiaino (sp.) is a finn and played centrally when i saw them against boca a couple of games ago.
Reid apparently shot just wide with a fantastic drive, and also released Mido to set up Robbie for his first goal. The og was from a cross from Stephen Kelly. Nice to see the Irish lads involved in all the goals. Did Yeates play at all in any of the games?
Excellent start for all of the Irish Spurs players. Delighted to see Keane get off the mark so well. I don't rate Mido that highly so I think it is only a matter of time before Keane becomes first choice at White Hart Lane.

Its probably just me but I sense a bit of favouritism for Defoe in this Jol quote:
"I am certain if Jermain had played he would have scored and ended up as top scorer instead."
I was reading the Spurs match report and seen this:
"A sensational start saw an own goal and a Robbie Keane header put us two goals to the good inside the first ten minutes before Keane - voted Most Valuable Player of the tournament - effectively sealed the game just before half-time. A late penalty reply could not alter the outcome of the game."
What was that vote about?

that wasnt a nice thing for him to say , robbies done nothing wrong all he can do is keep on scoring and force Jol in making him first choice , that time he lashed out after being subbed is probably still counting against him.
Totally agree dont rate Robbie myself but jesus what a way to smash a players confidence
Extracts from Spurs' website's match report of the 4-0 win over Aldershot follow. The Spurs team was made up of players who didn't play at Reading.
Robbie Keane netted his fifth goal of the pre-season period as the players not involved against Reading eased to a 4-0 win over Conference side Aldershot Town. His strike took some time in coming as chances, while plentiful, were not particularly well executed in front of goal.
Keane really could - and should - have opened the scoring on 12 minutes when a superbly measured cross from Lennon on the right fell perfectly for him to head back across the keeper and into the net. It did go back across the keeper, but was misdirected and drifted wide.
There was nearly a second following a brilliant leave by Keane which allowed Carrick a rare burst through on goal.
Keane did not return to clinical mode straight after the re-start. Johnnie Jackson teed him up with a measured low cross from the left, but Robbie opted for a dink over the keeper and his cheeky effort fell wide.
It was quickly four and finally a goal for Keane after 68 minutes. Kanoute did the graft, getting to the line and threading the ball towards Keane, who passed the ball into the net to give the scoreline a more realistic appearance.
Robbie Keane is seeking to transfer his Peace Cup form into the Premiership and hit the ground running when the new season begins.
Voted 'Most Valuable Player' of the tournament, Robbie was in fine fettle in South Korea, netting four goals from two starts including a brace in the final against Lyon in Seoul.
The livewire striker reported he worked throughout the close-season with the aim of reaching optimum fitness for the forthcoming campaign where he will once again challenge for a starting spot with the other three strikers in the squad.
"I've come back feeling pretty sharp and I did a bit of work on my own over the summer," he explained. "I feel good and I hope I am showing that in games. It's only pre-season though and the most important thing is to carry it through into the season.
"That's what I want to do, I want to keep going, keep myself fit and do what I did in Korea once the season starts.
"It is not a case of putting down a marker, just making sure I'm as fit as I can be. I'm 25 years of age now and I want to knuckle down - not that I haven't before - as we have quality strikers here who are battling to start the season. I'm no different to the other three lads in that."
Robbie added that the fortnight in the far east sharpened the lads up and they returned with their objectives realised.
"It was a good two weeks and, when you go to places like that, it is important you come back with something. We've come back with good fitness and, what we went over there for, the trophy.
"The top Premiership sides take part in these sort of tournaments now and the opposition was a little bit better than we've normally faced at that stage, so it was good for us and the lads enjoyed it."
Meanwhile, a player who particularly impressed Robbie on the trip was new boy Teemu Tainio, who he is convinced has all the attributes to become a success in English football.
"He is a little terrier, isn't he? He gets stuck in and can play as well. He will do well in the Premiership with the way he plays.
"Teemu is a good lad who I'm sure will do well here if he carries on playing like he did in Korea.
"I'm not too sure which midfield position he prefers, but he's played in most of them already and looked good. It is good to have someone like Teemu in the squad."
It's Reading next in our pre-season programme and Robbie concurs with the thinking of those players questioned in that it will be a tough assignment at the Madjeski Stadium.
"Reading are a good side who were unlucky not to get in the play-offs last year. Steve Coppell is a good manager and we are looking forward to the game.
"We know what it's like when you play a so-called lesser team, they always want to do well against Premiership clubs. I'm sure they will try to do that."

Spurs rumoured today to be bidding for striker Dirk Kuyt of Feyenoord, once a target of Liverpool. Seriously, how many players do they need? They've a larger strikers and midfielders than most squad sizes!!
Along with undermining Keane's confidence after preseason, the rest of the strikeforce must be wondering what is going on (although obviously I really don't care about them)
