I expected a gap in performance levels but thought we'd keep it tight. As it happens I was right but very wrong. I had not expected the gap to be as large as it was. Some of Derrys passing and movement was incredible yo watch up close.
Thankfully Paddy McEleney is still all flash and no substance or it might have been much more than a 2 goal defeat.
Diallo was very impressive.
Hopefully Keating only misses the Longford game and we can get through that without him.
When is the draw for the next round??
"Waterford and Treaty United join Shelbourne, Bohemians, Dundalk, Derry City and UCD in the quarter-final shake-up, with Shamrock Rovers or Drogheda completing the line-up tomorrow."
Bohs and Shels are the dark horses. It would be an interesting final to have a shootout for the final European spot.

Rovers lethargic for all of second half - hard to see Drogs not winning
The non-league teams can't blame COVID as their results versus LOI club have fallen off a cliff since 2018, 35 games - 34 LOI wins - 1 win for Maynooth University Town versus Cobh last season in 2021
FAI cup results were always poor for non-league teams against LOI clubs, but you were pretty much guaranteed at least one upset every season, some draws/replays but most of time competitive enough results. It's the goal differences between the teams that really is sticking out like a sort thumb now and it can't be blamed on nearly 20 years of LOI summer football having a head start on the non-league seasons
I do feel there is some progression in the LOI since 2018 but mostly regression from the non-league teams. Decline in participation levels, demographics and volunteers is becoming a problem for non-league clubs but also some prominent non-league clubs have come under an increasing radar of authorities over cash in hand payments to LOI level players and the club's "sources of funds". If this seasons FAI Cup performances are not a wake up call from these clubs to seriously work with the LOI on some level of a sustainable integrated pyramid system then I don't know what is

The Leinster Senior League needs a strong Bohemians
Tremendous few weeks for us - had enough chances to win today but didn’t take them , then looked knackered from h/t onwards…. Aidamo a lucky man that his selfishness didn’t hurt us (we had a 4 on 1 breakaway and he didn’t pass)
So a badly needed 5 day rest/break before next challenge against Bohs
Good job games were played to a conclusion for the top 2. Definitely didnt need another fixture thrown in to the mix.
Bound to be some good matches drawn out of the hat for the quarters.
"The draw will be broadcast live on @GameOn2FM from 6:10pm on Tuesday and on FAI TV."
Bohemians
Derry City
Dundalk
Shamrock Rovers
Shelbourne
Treaty United
UCD
Waterford
Treaty, UCD and Waterford will have to avoid the other five if they are to progress. With at least two of the other five guaranteed to meet, there should be at least one good draw for neutrals.

Our head office in abbotstown have leaked it already.
Dundalk v bohs
Shels v derry
Shamrock rovers v treaty
Ucd v waterford.
Games to be played when it suits Rovers
Just in case my source let's me.down. I'll settle for any home draw.
Be some laugh if that ends up the lineup sbgawa!
Home draw v Treaty thanks very much football gods! Then home draw. Wouldnt want to be away to Waterford with the extra pep in their step. UCD wont be overawed by us going on league games, Rovers would be a bad draw full stop, and the rest away would be tough when the league is done and Europe is up in the air so a lot could be on a cup run. Anyone left standing in the semis will have their heads turned! Pats fans could be left hoping for another O'Donnell led cup win yet....

Dundalk at home to Rovers
Derry at home to bohs
Shels at home to Treaty
UCD at home to Waterford
Rovers far from at their best, definitely looked sluggish from all the games of late. However as said above, they missed chances to make it more comfortable..
Drogheda were brilliant but probably didn't work Pohls enough.
I wouldn't say Maynooth were that poor, relative to Treaty. The opener stung them because it came a bit against the run of play, and if they had managed to score early in the first or the second as they were threatening to it would have been a very different result. They did really well packing their midfield to force Treaty to put it over the top, and aside from the goal we had only one distant shot in the first half. The second goal killed the game and the third came after Maynooth had pretty much given up, so I wouldn't say the final score signifies total Treaty dominance.
