It was a sickener. It always is losing to that shower - and how come the referee in Colmans is always a spanner? Chorus during the week will be very inetresting - not least to see that penalty decision. He was well placed and still missed it - well, I don't think he missed it I just think he bottled it. That was at 1-0 to the Blues and would have put us well on the way to the three points.
I was more disappointed at the lack of spirit than the result. Particularly after the equaliser we just died - and never looked like threatening. I was at Cork's game on Friday and it provided an interesting comparison. They were a goal very early. The first 20 minutes of the second half they sat back and let Rovers into it. O'Flynn was up on his own effectively - so Rico took off a midfielder and brought on Fenn up front i.e. they went for it. They strolled out 3-0 winners. In the same situation we made no shape to go after Cobh. They were there for the taking.
Again I am amazed at the negative view of Mooney. Chorus again will be worth watching for the first goal. He should have held it but he can hardly be blamed 100% for the goal. The ald had a week to cross it - then a free header - the Limerick defenders stood like statues while the Cobh lad reacted to save. And considering that he prevented three certain goals earlier the idea that he is useless is nonsense. The view I heard is that making brilliant saves is "his job" so he shouldn't get credit for them - I still can't see the logic in that. Another conversation for the Shed no doubt.![]()
