    Wexford FC v Bray

Good contest in Ferrycarrig this afternoon as Wexford, who had been shading the game, had to rely on a tremendous penalty save from Alex Moody in the Wexford goal with three minutes to go to gain a share of the points. Wexford started with Alex, Kevin, Lorcan, Jordon, Frieler, Luka, Harry, Adam, Conor B, Dinny and Jack. Wexford didn’t defend the early set-pieces well and, in the first minute, Bray smacked a header from a free against the Wexford goal-post and away. On five minutes, Bray won another free and taking it short, the ball curled into the Wexford box was tapped into the Wexford goal easily by Bray’s Feeney for 1-0 to the away side. Wexford attacked well for the rest of the half as, on ten minutes, McGuinness couldn’t hold a free by Jack Doherty but none of the Wexford onrushing attackers could finish. Two minutes later, Wexford got on equal terms when a training ground routine allowed Harry Groome to finish a Wexford corner for 1-1. With Jack Doherty causing the Bray defence all sorts of problems, it was Wexford who looked most likely to increase their lead, and Dinny Corcoran had a good shot which smacked off the Bray crossbar just before the 20 minute mark. On the half-hour, Bray, who were playing quite directly, had a goal ruled out for offside. Alex Moody then blocked a Bray shot from an angle with his feet late on and it was 1-1 at half-time.

Wexford generally looked the more likely to score in the second half as Dinny Corcoran had two shots on target and a lob of the stranded McGuinness in the Bray goal which went a couple of yards over. As the half went on, Wexford brought on Conor Davis, Conor Crowley, Thomas Considine, Dobbsy and Len O’Sullivan as subs. With Kevin McEvoy going closest for Wexford with a header at the far post, Bray were awarded a peno with three minutes to go either for a tackle or for a hand-ball inside the Wexford penalty area. However, Alex Moody, who’s a big unit in the Wexford goal, got down really well low to his left to save the Bray peno and it was still 1-1. Wexford pressed hard mainly through Thomas Considine down their right wing for a winner but game stayed at 1-1 at the end. Best for Wexford were Lorcan Fitzgerald and Jordon Tallon at the back and Jack Doherty up front with Daniel Blackbyrne doing really well at the back for Bray. After the game had ended, Pat Devlin entered the stand to remonstrate with the Bray supporters who had been calling for his head more or less throughout the game. About 350 or so at the game.

    Edit:
Great to see ball-boys/girls from North End at the game.
