    Angry Setanta

See an advert on Setanta that they have "live" Eircom League every Friday, how is delayed coverage live anyway tonight it’s Shels v Derry and next Friday it’s Pat’s v Shels the same night the NW derby between Derry and Harps is on. Should this station be called Sheltanta

That is a joke, one of the best derbies outside bohs/rovers but i say ours is the best and this is an example of how cheap and undedicated these stations are.

I wonder if Derry and Cork are tied on points in the last game of the season and the winner gets the title will they finally move outside Dublin to Turners Cross then

Nah, they'll show the sentimental last game of Rovers in the top flight, etc.

the problem is outside the fans of either club, the general interest would not be that high, and pretty much all fans of both clubs will be at the match and not watching it on tv.

and as everyone seems to like to see shels lose, its easier to just keep showing shels for a tv audience.

for the same reason, if rte shows a cup match in the next round, you can gaurantee it wont be us against craptown, as pretty much all the interested parties will be at the match, wherever its going to be

if it helps im interested in the Louth derby for the cup

But If there is no interest in Derry-Harps how much more interest will be in Shels-Pats.

I guarantee you that the NW Derby would generate A LOT more interest than Shels-Pats.

Our derby is the best in the country in terms of atmosphere and they're always cracking games to watch.

The people who aren't there are the losers Dazzy, we know what it's about!

Dont be silly any game involving shells would generate more interest because after last years european run they are the team of the moment and the team that people who dont follow EL can relate to most

I don't care if Setanta are a commercial station but showing Shel$ every week amounts to a subsidy fopr Shel$ as Setanta pay them + their sponsors get greater coverage.

TV deals should include some allowance for spreading the games shown.

City v Bohs should be shown next 1st v 4th with decent enough crowd expected.

Pats Shels games aren't what they used to be though, but at least they're showing games. We spent forever moaning about no games on TV now we're moaning about games on TV.

Yes and no, while it should be spread around there's certain teams who's stadiums just aren't upto being put live on TV and it would only look absolutley rubbish and do more damage than good if they did show them.

Tell me why no league games from league leaders ground shown then? The cross is better than Richmond Park. If Setanta were concerned with showing grounds that looked good they wouldn't be showing 1500 people at Tolka or Inchicore.

You're right about Cork being shown, they should be, and you missed my point. Cork are one of the teams who's home games should be shown.

I don't think it said "live" on the ad. though. I think it said something like "full coverage".

Thats rubbish, why should a team be penalised by not getting the money from T.V. coverage just because their ground isnt soft of the eye,

More to the point how do they get the money to improve it?

And besides Tolka doesn't look that good on the tele - the Drumcondra end looks like there's nothing behind most of the time, the main stand looks like the shed it is and from the gantry you can't even see the whole bloody pitch.

Doesn't excuse not going to Turners Cross, Flancare, Brandywell which all look fine on the TV....

Where are most of Setanta's viewers based?

    ...Dublin

If there was a sudden increase in subscription in other parts of the country, I would think they would take that into account.

Don't know. I think Pats-Drogs was at 10:00 or something so probably similar.
