Thats why hes trying to win the league in OctoberOriginally Posted by Slash/ED
Shels are under huge pressure now as CL game is even more important than was last week. I think they will fall further behind before making a comeback.
Bohs have done well recently but have no quality back up for Grant & Foley.

Its ours to throw away IMO. I expect Shels to put together a strong run, and i expect Derry to be there or thereabouts til the end. I think Bohs will come into the reckoning sooner or later as well, but I reckon those 3 will take points off each other and that will let us push on. IMO, if we don't lose a game between now and the end of August (especially the Shels and Derry games) I can't see us not winning it.
Even if we beat you in the Cross we wont win the league, the gap is too big now. I think Derry wont have the consistency over the whole of the season that you will either, it's definitely Corks title unless they throw it away.

Well if you consider two league titles to be a massive haul...
It says "any" trophies. We're still in the FAI Cup too btwOriginally Posted by Slash/ED

Only thing we can do to cheer ourselves up is to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League and use all our newfound mega-wealth to nick all your best players in the post season.
You got to fancy Cork, but if it gets nervy near the end of the season, I'd rather have Kenny than Rico in the dressing-room.
The way we're going, you'd better hope we get nervy in the next week or two soOriginally Posted by TheOwl

Ahh you can stick a fork in us, we are done. I just hope we qualify for the UEFA Cup, because we all know results in the Intertoto Cup mean diddly squat.Originally Posted by Éanna
I mean we COULD qualify for that competition and go through a couple of rounds but sure so what? It's not like it's the Champions League or anything!
I know exactly what you mean. A run in the intertoto? Its only worth doing it when you're the first club from your league to do it, just to gain some publicity- not worth anything after thatOriginally Posted by TheOwl

And who did that then?Originally Posted by Éanna
Sorry I only follow proper competitions!
Ohh...I see Newcastle won yesterday.
Actually Shels won't have the Inter Toto salvage even. This year's is the last ever isn't it?

I am actually quite concerned. Without Cork or Derry winning the cup you could face a real prospect of no European competition next season. Unless you make serious headway in Europe this year you'll be fairly out of pocket.Originally Posted by Slash/ED
I reckon Cork or Derry will win it, I had a feeling that Derry would win it at the start of the season and Cork have the consistency. I can't see Longford making three in a row anyway, so hopefully they'll get it. I still think we'll be able to finish second though, hopefully...
