    Williamson departs

According to todays Tribune, Kevin Williamson has left Galway United by mutual agreement. Apparently the Offaly man was disillusioned by the lack of first team opportunties at the club.

Michael Lindsay has also been released, as has Ciaran Kelly.

Mervue United's Alan O'Donovan guested in last nights friendly against Coventry City.

It seems he's signed for Dublin City. Is this Kevin Williamson late of Bohemian FC Under-21s?

    Thumbs down Bad News

I cant believe we let such talent go to waste. Kevin is a great prospect and If Casey is goin whos gonna play left mid? ok we have Reilly but hes better at left back. Also Kelly is a good replacement for Alan Gough and Alan will be retiring in a year or two. I cant believe we have released these players as they were both very promising. FFS

Lads the reason they were let go is because they wanted to leave,it's not as if the club forced them to leave .Willaimson is a good player but off with him if he isn't prepared to fight for his place.Lindsay was obviously a big mistake if he didn't play a game for us and as you said Aoran Goughie is around for another season anyway so that's plenty of time to get a new keeper. All these players were squad players,it's not as if we just sold the whole starting 11.Calm down

Conor, of course its the club that made him leave, he may have wanted to leave a bit but its teh clubs position that gave him teh boost. I dont think he would have left if GUFC were at teh top of teh Premier Division.

I wasn't talking about our current league position i was saying that i wouldn't have thought that people in the club would force out a player when were struggling in the 1st division. We will manage fine without him sure didn't we go through our best run of the season without hm in the 1st team.

.....Kev was just a youngster with a bright future ahead of him and it would of been good to keep him. And Ciaran Kelly seemed to be a great replacement for Goughie. So why didnt we give them a better chance? Kevin had great skills and imo he was better than Casey,Quirkey(maybe) and the master of mistakes Marcin Szymanski. Also , Kelly was better than John Burke.

Williamson is undoubtedly a loss ...

.. Sheridan, he is a fomer Bohs U-21 and certainly worth his chance with Dublin City.

You have to admire his integrity, he apparently left for football reasons.

Are we letting them go? or are we getting a couple of quid for them?

Also what team in Sweden are the lads playing for (Burke, Lee and Fitzy)?
