Although he played underage for Utd and made his senior debut at 15(I think), I'm fairly sure he's a Limerick lad
I suppose with both loans, he went from a starter to a sub option rather than the other way around, and scored one goal, which is fairly paltry for a forward.
I think it's fair to suggest if he doesn't do well at Accrington over the season, he could end up back at Galway sooner rather than later.

Regardless, it's a bit much to suggest last chance saloon at 21 years old. Even if he did have a shocker of a season, there's nothing to suggest he couldn't drop to LOI and return to England and have a good career for himself at a decent level. He wouldn't be the first and won't be the last to go down that route.
I just find it absurd that there's a suggestion a lad is potentially finished at a good level at 21 years old after 60 senior appearances.

Recalled from his loan at Accrington Stanley

Would be interested to see how well he'd got on in Ireland. Nothing in the UK has really worked out for him at all so far. I wonder if Rovers would look at him as a loan option until the summer.
I'd say Accrington was probably his least worst loan loan spell so far - he actually scored a few goals and the support there seemed to think he was decent. They're fourth bottom of League 2 though, so you'd be hoping he'd do OK at that level. Given his age and likely lack of prospects at Burnley this recall might maybe be because a permanent transfer option has come up for him?
FLW are repeating pundit Alan Nixon's report that Northampton have beaten Stevenage and Fleetwood Town to the loan signing of Costelloe. If the deal is confirmed, he will be stepping up from EFL 2 to EFL 1 for the remainder of the season.

Loan deal to Northampton goes through, after Costelloe signed a contract extension at Burnley.

2 today. 4 goals in his last 4 League One games. He might be doing okay...
The 22-year-old Burnley forward scored six goals in 15 appearances on loan at Northampton and "led the line impressively, playing a vital role" as the Cobblers avoided relegation from EFL One. Manager Kevin Nolan was quite positive in his assessment of how the Jan 2025 loan had gone: “Dara's been great for us. We would have been in a bit of trouble had we not brought him in. But what he’s done, as a young boy, he’s took it all on his shoulders and led the line brilliantly. He’s got the will and the desire to succeed and he’s come on loads in his time with us.â€

Football League World today picked up transfer market pundit Alan Nixon's story that Costelloe is the subject of talks between Burnley and Leyton Orient. The Londoners were beaten in the League One play-off final and won't have QPR's Charlie Kelman on loan again (61 appearances, 27 goals, 6 assists); Jamie Donley (Spurs) scored 8 EFL 1 goals in 37 appearances for Orient and may be loaned to a Championship club next season. So Costelloe will have a lot to live up to, if a deal is completed.
