That's dead right, and you've clearly stated tonight where your sympathies lie. Here's the deal. We don't comment on the fact that you refuse to turn off Sky TV and then moan about over-exposure to the London bombings, and we won't comment on the fact that we worry about living with terrorists but refuse to up sticks and leave.

Conor, your attitude stinks. Please **** off before I say anything to you that I regret.

Thank you PP, you have just summed up exactly how i feel. I passed a comment to someone earlier about the attitudes of a few people to these attacks. Conor obvioulsy you are more than entitled to your views on the events in London over the past few weeks, but would you please realise that its not just 56 people out of 10million dying. its 56 people who died becasue all they did was get on the tube and go to work. This isnt some terrible accident like a train crash, this was a deliberate attempt to kill as many normal everyday people who get on the tube/bus as possible. As you said we should keep it on topic, so yes the whole point is that Londoners are afraid, it is scary to get on the tube every day, especially when the attacks start to impinge directly on your daily life. But sites like we are not afraid allow people like me, who are still a bit afraid to vent that anger, to show a united front. Its an outlet for people, and if it helps only one person than it gets my vote.

Well thank you. Then maybe you can also try and take on board the fact that this is a very emotive topic for alot of people, in particular those living in London. Im sure you make valid points, but please realise we are living this now. We get on the tubes everyday. Everytime there is a security alert my family ring me panicked because they know i get a variety of different tubes every day all across london, and the relief when they hear Im ok, is only too clear. I am afraid, but I have a job which means getting on the tube, and as im incredibly stubborn , Im not letting anyone dictate what i do through the use of violence and intimidation, so the tube it is as per ususal.

I think the learned gentleman is more than happy to subsume all of this in whatever "point" he wishes to make. Not that his self-aggrandisement counts for a single shît just now.

No, you and I both know it's nothing of the sort. Don't even flatter yourself that for one second I would attribute one of these comments to you. Jofyisgod snapped before I did, that's all. So much for the diplomatic approach.

That said, such brave intransigence is really not worthy of confrontation. My only hope for you is that I never get the chance to be all high-and-mighty to Kerry(wo)men from this distance in return.

Y'know, Babysis, we see so much on TV over here - from the US stations to RTE etc - yet all we hear is the "stiff upper lip" comments and suchlike all the time.
It's only when I read your post, I realise how much it's affecting you all over there. It must be truly awful for you all - once again, Footie tells us the real story.

Just imagine the thousands of folks who are worrying about their nearest and dearest in London. Jesus, it's awful to read.

Thinking about you all and hope you are all holding up a little.

You were all warned about these kinds of emotional outburts on previous threads on this topic. If it happens again, I'll lock this thread and all others on this subject.

Sorry Dahamsta - didn't mean to offend anyone - just expressing my horror at the stress our friends are going through in London.

As I said above, Footie - whether it's football, politics etc - gives us the real picture - not the general media.

That is why this forum is so important which, of course, is ultimately to your credit.

Also, proves recent and widespread reports that the internet (bloggers/forums etc) is contributing to a downturn in newspaper readership as people are turning, more and more, to the blogs etc for better information.

Well, I'm a little less "emotional" this morning and can take your points with a little more balance. I know we don't have a monopoly on knowledge regarding "certain issues" but we do happen to be somewhat in the firing line at the moment. If the European centre of English-language broadcasting was in Killarney and devices went off there, I daresay we'd have Kerry's finest on TV at all hours. It's not though, is it?

I've no time for the Americanisation of the news - the crass and endless sensationalising of people's fears/emotions/recollections by way of producing copy - but step back and divorce this blanket coverage from the issues facing Londoners at the moment. That's at the heart of this. I'm not sure that we are any more enamoured of the chasing press than you are. We'd all welcome a little peace and quiet away from the constant gaze of the camera.

The old sphincter wobbled on Thursday afternoon (even if I was safe in the LUL bunker) and I heard that my cousin was on the Edgware Road train (a bit of melodramatisation for Conor there) but only had to go to hospital for a bit of smoke inhalation, but apart from that I'm not too bad.

Reality is, as Sylvo said on another thread, people are using the tube because they have to. No one uses the system for fun even without these c*nts. It's falling apart at the best of times. Regarding the coverage of London, the same did happen in Madrid, Tel Aviv etc and this does get reported. Give me a quote that Madrid was cowered. They were out marching - upwards of a million - the following day. I suppose they all came in by taxi? There was a programme about the Tel Aviv bus service on the BBC earlier this year and likewise, neither the staff bottled it, nor it seems the passengers. One bus driver was back in work the following morning.

The person who is complaining about this can't have been bothered watching the news after the events in these other places. Perhaps it's because there isn't a Premiership team there. And it's not our fault if Fox News likes to wrap things up in simplistic stereotypes for its dim viewers. I'm sure the Toreador (sic.) spirit was used for the Madrileños post 11-M.

As for Conor I thought we were free of him after his laughable Diva strop earlier in the year: Sadly not. Well If people just ignored him - by placing him on the ignore (eejit) list as some of us have done - then his own oxygen of publicity will cease. Unfortunately, as people continue to respond to his omnipresent SANCTIMONIOUS drivel, whose sole intention is to wind people up and provoke a reaction along the lines of 'f*ck off you ignorant c*nt' from even some of the moderators before responding with mock horror and the usual 'oh dear. Resorting to personal insults, swearing etc. Tut. Tut.' , my foot.ie viewing is continuing to be spoilt by having to read what this imbecile has posted.

Yeah Lopez - I usually watch "Faux" "News" for a laugh because they are so rediculous but their coverage of the London attacks plumbed new depths - cynical, hypocritical, Bush theme orientated etc etc etc and they definitely weren't funny this time. Al Franken takes the p!ss out of O'Liley, Sean Insanity etc on his programme on Air America - it's on 5pm to 8pm (our time) Monday to Friday on the net.

Thinking of all you guys over there - I've relations near Croydon and a couple of cousins in the police force over there too - thankfully they are holding up but under severe pressure as you can imagine.

    You were all warned.

Conor, I realise you're not the only one involved in this argument, but we both know that you're a primary cause, and we both know you did it on purpose. If you cause one more argument like this on Foot.ie, you won't be leaving by choice, you'll be forced out, and you won't be coming back.
