Rovers really cant afford to lose at Shels or we could be 9 points behind after the first series of games.
Momentum is everything and Derry have it.
Pats v Dundalk has all the side show elements but more importantly 3 points for one of them will push them up the table.
If Bohs back up the win at Sligo with another against Drogs the pressure will ease on 007.

6 points for Longford from two very winnable games will have them right in the mix.

Not hugely confident going into tonight. I think if nothing else Dundalk seem like they are a bit more settled in terms of how they play and that could end up being a key factor, as we're still somehow struggling with getting the balance right in midfield in particular. Get an actual midfielder like Ben McCormack in the 10 and Billy King back out on the wing for an underperforming Mark Doyle and I'd be a lot more confident though, we just have such an odd mix of great quality with a mixture of blundering inconsistency that is probably comparable to other teams in this area of the table that in turn makes every game a tough call.

I’m hoping the sideshow doesn’t become a distraction for Pats tonight. All about the 3 points.
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

Its absolutely is really only about the points. I do fear that there will be a greater edge to things than usual, mostly in the stands. Hopefully not to extent of anything unsavoury especially live on TV. I'd presume there'll be a hefty enough Garda presence outside the ground pre and post match.

Not a whole lot of quality at Richmond which isnt unexpected. Pats looking a lot hungrier with Dundalk showing the lethargy they did v Drogheda. Shame for the young Murphy lad to pick up that hamstring injury, at his age its something that will have to be worked on, unusual to be a persistent problem for a kid. The Simpsons 'Whacker Day' banner made me laugh. Dundalk a bit better as the game has gone on, has the feel that a goal either way could be enough. Leahy getting a torrid time at left full. Out of interest is there much difference between the dimensions between the pitch in Drogheda and Inchicore?

Doesnt seem like a 'sold out' game if that what it is with plenty of seats in the stand (maybe away sections) free and only a part of the away area behind the goal in use. Good atmosphere regardless.

After the top 2 there’s a much of a muchness between the next 5 or 6 teams in the league, that Pats/Dundalk game was pretty uninspiring,3rd and 4th up for grabs from a few sides….

Interesting bit of needle there between O'Donnell and Mathews at the end of the game. Wonder what happened there? Mathews didn't seem to know anyway.

Bray v Treaty tonight must be one of the worst games ever played.

Never mind us, Darragh Burns deserved to win that game tonight. Frustrated not to win because I was expecting it to be a lot tighter but it felt like we had all of the few chances there were. Was surprised by how haphazard Dundalk were, thought they would have looked an awful lot more comfortable on the ball than they did.

Poor enough game overall. It perked up a bit in the second half. Im on holidays so watched it on the tablet and wasn't happy with Eoin Doyle. I've made plenty of excuses for him this year but those two chances were delivered on a silver platter. As for that yoke in the opposite dugout his estimation has stooped even lower after ignoring Mathews after the mstch. An unsavoury character.

Can only assume it's to do with what happened when O'Donnell left. He must think Mathews betrayed him in some way. But Mathews is ultimately a club employee and someone the owner specifically brought in so his loyalty isn't going to be to SOD.

Gas seeing people surprised that O'Donnell wouldn’t shake Matthews hand. That’s the exact personality and class of the man.

He did the dirt not Mathews. He had no qualifications to be in the job and AM proped him up. The man has no shame or moral fiber.

It’s a shame Pats we’re missing so many players tonight, Forrester in particular would've made the difference tonight you feel. Dundalk can thank the young keeper Shepperd for their point tonight, it was strange to see them come for a point but im sure they’ll be delighted with it. Weird to see a Dundalk goalkeeper waste time on every kick out from the first half despite it being 0-0, how the mighty have fallen and all that

Would have been absolute robbery if rovers hadn't won tonight , should have been 2 or 3 up easily at halftime.
Shels scored in a breakaway from a rovers corner. Scenes in the away end, you can't beat a last minute winner
. Could be a big win for us.

If you were in any doubt about how much of an utter scumbag O’Donnell is, his behaviour at the end of the match just confirms it. For two years Matthews protected him from himself and O’Donnell owes him an immense amount for helping him get the success he had. A lesser man than Matthews would not have offered his hand at the end of the game. O’Donnell’s response is despicable. The man is beyond contempt.
