    Limerick 1 - Kildare County 1

First half was the same dross as the last few weeks. Second half saw a marked improvement in performance.

    Team was:

    Mooney
    O'Mahoney
    McGauley
    Wolfe
    Finucane
    Kearns
    Young
    Barrett
    Keating
    Kelliher
    Nolan

    Subs:
    Sweeny
One of the U-21s whose name I forget... sorry Shane something right?

Finny scored our goal with a header from a corner as the game entered injury time. Will prolly post in more in more detail tomorrow but they're kicking me outta here shortly so...

Thought the fans were much like the team. Sporadically good in the first half and pretty excellent all through the second. The atmosphere was great as the game wore on (some may disagree).
The ball is round and has many surprises.

Agree with you SLK about the crowd atmosphere, especially for the second half, but I think the sun had more to do with that than the team's performance. To me they were shockingly poor in the first half, again we were lost tactically. Honestly does Noel know any other tactics besides booting it in the air and hoping for the other team to make a defensive error? In Young, Kelleher and Barratt we have players that can play football on the ground going forward, so why not mix the long ball tactics with some actual football? After the break we improved, but not greatly, in the end we were lucky to get a draw against a well disciplined team. What we were/are crying out for is goalscorer, Robbie is great technically but he desn't find the net often enough for me. Put him in there with a player like Waterford's Derek McCarthy and we'd have a fine partnership.......

I was thinking that myself. Sweeney and Keating in the centre of midfield - Young and Kerins either side and Barrett and Kelliher up front. After all the heart ache - not a bad situation.

Won't make a jot of a difference because all we do is hoof the ball. We bypass midfield, can't pass the ball and are devoid of tactics. Basically we play crap football. Putting Brendan Sweeney and Keatso in to the centre won't make much of a difference because we won't play through them anyway. If you don't play through a ball player (Sweeney) and give him the ball, he's not going to be effective. The best thing NOC could do is buy the tallest striker he can find cos that's the only kind of player that will suit the dross he plays, and the only kind of player that will give Robbie a chance up front. Tommy Barrett might work, at least he'll work his socks off anyway.

    0-0.

as for sweeney/keating in the middle. regardless of our tactics that pairing will work. aside from playing ball, sweeney is fantastic at being in the right place to mop up breaking/loose balls...his distribution of said balls is also fantastic. as for keating. he works like a horse. good in the air, strong in the tackle and he can play a bit too. so it will work. it will also give the defence more cover - something that was seriously lacking with the now dearly departed one in midfield.

barrett up front has been suggested by alot of people. so why not give it a try.

anyway we wont have to worry about all the above cos NOC will see this is what we the supporters would like to see and show us something different. maybe something like kearns and nolan in midfield.

Because it's been suggested by a lot of people.

Oh it'll work alright, but it won't make a major difference to our overall play. We won't maximise their potential because that'd be doing things right....

Funnily enough, against S****horpe he made some changes that we have been harping on about for ages. He played Tom McGauley at centre half, and when they came on, Anthony Wolfe in a holding midfield role and Tommy Barrett up front. I thought they all worked. I thought McGauley looked much better in the centre and got better as the game went on. Finny also had a great game alongside him. Anthony Wolfe looked a far better player in midfield than the hesitant player he looks at the back. He tackled well and his passing was crisp and accurate (yes, that is accurate ). I thought Tommy Barrett did very well up front and he almost scored with an absolute screamer. I'd like to see him partner Robbie in the league, I reckon we could have a potential partnership on our hands. Then again, if NOC is reading this he'll probably put Barrett in goals and sell Robbie to Sligo

NOC spotted them alright because I remember looking over at him when they were being held aloft and he was laughing at it. Apparantly he didn't write his program notes either. Selective amnesia i'd say

The Behaviour of Aidan Ryan towards the fans was unacceptable on Friday night. As he insulted those in the stand and the people on the sideline, he brought the standard of management to a new low.

As for chairman Danny Drew to back him up and also insult the fans was a disgrace, his comments about not needing fans was also two faced as in the match programme he encourages fans to show up every week...where would he be without the support of the fans.!!

Paul Finnucane for player of the year

Who gives a balls about what Aidan Ryan has to say? Who is he anyway? If he's supposed to be a coach, he's a pretty s**t one 'cos all we're playing is route 1, with no plan B.

Our chairman mightn't be playing with the full deck of cards i'd say, something I think some of the fans are beginning to slowly cop on to
