Any official attendance figure for the First Division Play-Off Final in the Markets Field ?
Considering both clubs reports of ticket sales, Waterford FC & Galway United claiming about 1,000 travelling fans each, I reckon on 2,500 as a reasonable estimate!
Anyone in the know who cares to add?
Will there be a season summary post? Averages etc? Is somebody tracking it?
Nigel has said that the scarcity of official attendances this season hasn't helped his averages posts - surprising that clubs don't have to announce them for each match.
Our own Statto makes our average league attendance at 2,050 which is our largest for a long time. Well over 1,500 United fans at Fridays play off game
Tallaght looked fairly empty for the womans cup final.
Dreadful standard particularly the keepers.
Woman will have equality when the panelists and journalists call out the standard as terrible when it is.
Not a chance there is 5070 there.
Pure PR maybe that's the total of tickets they gave away .
East stand is virtually empty west stand half full at best.
I'd say 3500 at a push.
4,644 announced as the crowd at Richmond for the final game of the season, brilliant crowd for a dead rubber. Another sold out home end while Shels brought less than half of their 1150 allocation. I was genuinely shocked to see such a tiny and quiet away crowd considering they’re in a cup final next week

1500 in the Bowl, give or take
Stand was effectively full with no overspill
I think it has alright. A fair few students turning up lately, particularly international students. They're at games regularly though, so it's not a one-off promo thing.
Possibly the Mount Merrion link working too. And I guess we're piggy-backing to an extent on the general "LoI is cool" vibe lately
Forgot that was on but either way it kicked off 4 hours earlier just a few luas stops away. I wasn’t aware so many shels fans support the women’s team over the men’s though. There must have been a women’s team match on the day shels brought around 300 to Tallaght a few weeks ago too

Have it on good authority that Shels have only sold 98 tickets for mens cup final - Derry have sold 25,432
I was surprised at the number and volumne of UCD supporters at the match last night alright.
I was down the end Rovers were shooting into in the second half and there were a bunch of kids tht were obviously a football team from Mount Merrion giving it socks and shouting at some Rovers young lads (good naturedly).
There were also a good few older supporters , more than ive noticed before.
I'll be going along next Friday, do you think the college will try and get behind you?

UCD is in a pretty great postion in Dublin, as both Pats and Rovers are South West, it leaves South East kind of virgin territory. A pipe dream maybe, but there is no reason why UCD couldnt potentially be a team of an area of the city and the university team, and generate a strong core fan base not just directly connected to the university but people around South Dublin
There are other professional teams that grew out of Universities, Universitatea Craiova and FC Universitatea Cluj are both in the top division in Romania, Club Universidad de Chile and CD Universidad Católica are two of the biggest teams in Chile, and Universitario de Deportes are the most succesful in Peru. Not the same set-up as UCD but still, shows that being connected to a university shouldn't be a barrier for expanding.
Maybe we will have 3000 people at UC Dublin in the future.....
