Some turnout from both set of fans for what essentially is a pre season friendly. There seems to be a real buzz about the league this season. Pats sold out our allocation for Friday about 2 weeks ago, I know Bohs have sold all their tickets for Sligo away already as well

Pats, Rovers, Bohs, Shels, Dundalk, Sligo and Derry have sold a record amount of season tickets AFAIK. Let’s hope the buzz lasts for the whole season.

Is it true that Derry fans crashed Dundalk's ticket portal by snapping up tickets for both the home and away end for Friday ?

I'm surprised that UCD (or possibly even Bray) haven't gone for Saturday night games to have less competition in the city and try to pick up some neutrals. You'd think there'd be a few dozen LOI fans of other teams in Dublin up for watching a game on Saturday if the option was there. And given UCD's crowds, any uplift in numbers would make a difference for them.

I see Cobh are down for Saturday games this season. I wonder to what extent that is motivated by a desire to avoid a clash with Cork City ?

Cobh would normally be on a Saturday night anyway. Was surprised to see them Friday nights last year.

€5 each weren't they? Great initiative.

Yeah, get them hooked at a young age. Along with a thriving 500 Club backing the first team, things are really looking up for Harps. The amount of kids attending games at the back end of last season was phenomenal. Getting lifelong fans out of that is the challenge, and improving facilities is key to enabling a better family friendly experience for all.

So 273 Derry fans bought home tickets, on top of an aloocation of how many - 600 ? That's an impressive level of away demand.

As an aside - I wonder how they were able to work out who was a Derry fan buying home tickets. Whatever route they went down to do that will on the one hand no doubt miss some and on the other probably also ensnare a few Dundalk fans too.

Cobh games would usually be Saturday nights and a significant portion of the crowd would be City fans.

Was in Tolka last night....The view from the away end isn't too bad surprisingly. The lack of cover won't be great though!

Sorry if it's been discussed before is the away end in tolfa the far end terrace behind the end the goal?
Is the Riverside condemned, and surely the main stand (where the bars are) is still open. It's a few years since Rovers brought fans there so excuse the ignorance

Shels fans are in the Riverside now. Pats fans are behind the goal for Friday and got a small section in the main stand. 800 tickets made available to us.

I'm not sure what the capacity for Tolka is these days but there'll be a good few Pats fans in the home end on Friday.
    Here on a technicality.

What happened with the ‘new stand’ in Tolka? Seems to be out of use for a couple of years…

It's out of use for good now, seats have been removed in the off season. I don't know the ins and outs of the structural engineering issues but the stand would have needed a crazy of money put into it to salvage the stand for supporter use. It's still good for dressing rooms etc.

All have to offer a few covered tickets. I’m in the main stand in tolka & there does always be a few away fans in the main stand at our home games.

True, but not enough covered seats for the majority of away fans though when there’s a half decent away following. The only premier division grounds that have enough covered seats to meet the demand of the majority of away fans on the night are Derry, Sligo and Rovers. Drogheda is fully covered too although it’s all standing bar the handful of away tickets in that little stand. Poor state of affairs all round
