Extra time have what look like official figures up here, they appear to be missing 8 PD matches so far but from what I’ve seen these do get added once they have them

Looked about 4500 or more in Tallaght stadium tonight.
2,516 at Dundalk v Sligo, surprised at home small the away crowd was, looked well less than 100. Sligo usually take a decent crowd.

1464 at the RSC last night.
The interesting thing about the Dundalk attendances are how little non season ticket holders are turning up on the night. Can't be too many clubs were you get more ST holders than on the day punters.
Its good to have a really solid base of fans that have paid up front for a seasons football but I get what yer saying. Unless there is a significant travelling support crowds are unlikely to break 3000, and to push above 4k it has to be a particularly attractive game eg big cup draw. So there is growth potential in the 'floating fan' base but also a solid and loyal regular fanbase to build on. It would be interesting to know if Oriel was a better facility whether or how much either st holder or match night tickets sales would actually improve by. The relative population of catchment and attendances are quite good by going by wider football stats.
Dundalk would definitely get crowds of 4-5000 if that main stand was made the width of the pitch. How many can it hold, the stand? 1600 or so? That could be made 3,000 seats as a proper pitch length stand (one of these decades).Had my eye on that match as well as Waterford-Galway on LOI TV. Looked about right on the crowd size, with maybe 25-30 from Sligo in the away end. Perhaps there were more in the Stand.

Agree, would be a super view too if it was full length, expanding to town end wouldn't be huge prob as only a petrol station (2 actually) behind it, the other side there are houses and would effect lighting. It holds 1,100 but if they got rid of terracing in front, could easily install another 300 seats both sides of the tunnel.

But why would they be under stating crowds, most / all are zapped going in, so unless that's not working properly, could be the reason, also remember its only Derry who pay VAT on gate money in LOI.
That said, I do think there was more than 2,500 there, you are correct in saying both sides of the shed were overflowing, I was in the stand, had a clear view.

Isn't the old theory/belief/legend that clubs like to keep some gate money off the books so they can use it to pay players off the books too ?
No doubt that sort of thing went on in the past, but it's much harder to do in an era when most tickets are bought online. You'd hope Irish clubs are above that sort of shenanigans in this day and age anyway.
I;m not suggesting Dundalk do this btw. Just highloighting what the hackneyed old tale was of what used to go on.
