    Revenue to meet the FAI

Next Tuesday is what I heard from someone that works in merrion sq. Seems the revenue are well ****ed off over what happened with Rovers and want to find out is if Rovers owed them 1.5m then how much might all the other clubs owe

If true it could be a very rough time for some clubs

Delighted to hear it if it's true. The more the clubs are forced to run themselves properly the better. Better to pay tax as it's meant to be paid rather than letting it lie and build up for years and then having a crisis.

Sort of hope its true. Only sort of because I think Dundalk might be under the spotlight. Tax on wages was never a big thing in brown envelopes. I'd imagine theres a lot of clubs in the same boat.

Rovers thought they owed 900k to the revenue in the begining when it turned out to be 1.5m in the end. If any club gets hit with anything near either of those figures then god help them. In an ironic cruel twist it could be the clubs that have assits (own there stadium) that will get hit hardest. Rovers got away with it because they've nothing

Rovers ``got away with it'' cos (thanks to the 400 Club) they held their hands up and sorted the club out. The fact is that the 400 Club wants Rovers run properly, and since we got involved in the day-to-days, the tax bills have been paid in full and on time every month, as is only right and proper.
Unlike under Branvard, where tax and all other bills/debts were ignored, whose directors should be met with the full rigours of the law for what they did at Shamrock Rovers.

not do you want it to happen, just if it will happen [/SIZE]
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Sure what will the problem be?

We have rovers who owe them 1.5million and they are not going to pay it. Are you saying that if others owe them 1.5million they will be treated different?

    Whats the diffence!!

Shouldnt we all be allowed to play by rovers rules and clear all or debts and start fresh...

If you apply the logic of Billy Lord its not the fans of any of the clubs who caused the debts its the people running the clubs. No club should face any form of punishment. Seing as Rovers are at it why dont we all clear everything.

    FACT.
Shels players got paid in cash this season. One of them was even part paid in coin. FACT.
The Revenue Commissioners will be examining all clubs accounts, except obviously, Derry City.
The tax affairs of SRFC are now fully up to date.

If a Rovers fan with 3 posts on the forum says it, you can take it to the bank.

    FACT.

I'm saying that no club can take the high moral ground on tax issues. Shel$ do not issue tickets fot their home league games so how could anyone know 100% they be declaring accurate revenue figures.

If an eL club is willing to go into Examinership every season then i suppose they could take their chances on clearing tax bills.

If Uefa Licencing is actually implemented it should prevent dodgy accounting practices...?

    Slash/ED,
Two friends of mine play for Shels. One of them was part paid in coin this season. I'm just making the point because there are probably other clubs doing likewise - paying players from gate receipts.
At least now, Rovers is being run properly. All gate receipts are being accounted for with tickets issued to each punter. All tax is paid on a monthly basis and on time etc.

    Sam !!!

What do you mean Rovers tax issues are up to date Of F**KING course they are !!! You just got away without paying a bill of 1.5million wasnt it?!!!

We could all be up to date if we cleared our debts unfairly...

Also you are allowed pay people in coins you know. What does it prove what way a person gets their wages? If your trying to get at the fact shels are not loaded then just say it. In fact ring Ollie and he will tell you the exact same thing. Shels are no more well off then any other club and probably do have bigger debts due to their assets.

Do your two 'mates' like playing for shels by the way?

    and Pete
What has tickets got to do with tax?
Shels know exactly how many people pay into their home games both children and adults. Do you actually have a point to make or are you just posting crap for the sake of it?

I club A give tickets and club B dont why would the figure they give the tax office be any different? Just because you give tickets doenst mean jack sh!t.

    What are you talking about?

Why don't you ring the tax office and remind them Pete and we'll see what happens

Oooohhh there is nothing that gets the few $h€l$ fans backs up quite like pointing out the shadier and more questionable dealings of the criminal......

I'm proposing that EVERYBODY who pays cash into Tolka Park DEMANDS a receipt from now on. As Honest Oily would obviously be only too happy to oblige all us paying customers to show us that everything is totally honest and above board, there shouldn't be a problem. (of course receipts are called tickets by other clubs)

Money goes into the biscuit tin, receipt comes out of the biscuit tin........simple.....
