The worry with Kavanagh is that he hasn't come anywhere close to replicating his underage form in his senior loans - and he's had two goes at it now. He probably needs a successful loan before getting a proper chance with Middlesbrough, he may get another shot at senior football after Christmas.
3-0 win for Middlesbrough against Port Vale in the EFL Cup ~ Now in to the semi-final !
Another goal for him today.
Was disappointed to see him drop down that far but this is an encouraging start
Goal here, at 1:15, good finish
Nice through ball for it too.
Wow, the pitch is emblematic of Bradford City's plight as a club.
Pitch looks shocking alright. Was over in Valley Parade about a year and a half ago and the pitch looked good. Was surprised by the standard on show for League Two and they had a decent crowd at just over 16k. Their average attendance for last season was double of that of the club in second place. Must have a ton of issues off the pitch to be stuck where they are.
Regarding Kavanagh that two goals in four games equals his tally from the half season loan he was on last year. Score one more goal and it equals his tally from the two half season loans he did. So good to see him hit the ground running at Bradford and according to Transfermarkt they play 3-4-2-1 and he's playing as one of the two behind the CF.
Goal and an assist for him today in a 2-0 win for Bradford. Three goals and two assists so far for him.
Fourth goal for Kavanagh today in win over Salford. Unfortunately looks like Bradford may have too much to do to make the play-offs and I don't know if his form, while encouraging, is good enough for higher league teams to come knocking - so it's likely he'll be spending next season in League Two: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/68724036
On the plus side it's the first loan where he's showed any real sign of converting his age grade form into the senior game. A strong finish to the season might interest one or two League 1 teams but otherwise probably no harm for him to go to League 2 again, would probably be better than being an occasional bench option at Middlesbrough.
For Ireland he's a good bit down the pecking order for the Under 21 squad and unfortunately is a few months overage for the next campaign. So, unless his career kicks on or there is an under 21 injury crisis, we might not see him in green again. He may end up being an option for Wales down the line given their lack of emerging talent.
Correct, sorry, I had thought it was another loan. No harm, he seems to be at the right level for his current development.
Two goals today for high flying Bradford in L2. Hadn’t noticed much of him recently but he’s made 28 appearances and I think 5 goals so far this season. Still only 21 but seems a long way off making a breakthrough to our squad. Had high hopes for him as a prospect.
37 appearances and 9 goals across all competitions. Didn't score in his first 13 games this season so he's on 9 goals in his last 24, so that's reasonably impressive - plus it is looking more likely that he will be playing League One football before his 22nd birthday, so still time for him to deliver on his early promise and play for us in future campaigns. Also of note - Tayo Adaramola got an assist and seems to be finally settling in to first team football
First half hat-trick away to Swindon
