Due to that natural defensive position he’d take while playing RB, he’d be ready to defend all the time and did ok in that aspect (unless the winger had any pace) but his inability to attack leaves a big gap in the team offensively
So very much like John "stay where you are, dont be crossing balls and we'll be grand" Mountney who he alludes to being like to in his interview with DundalkFC.com?

He'll be fine with a good coach who has stolen intellectual property coaching techniques no-one ever heard before.

SOD is obviously a big believer in both Mountney and Bone and that will be a big help to both players' confidence. All I'll say is that right back was the main problem position in the Pats team all last season. Despite having the "good coach" you refer to!

What's happening in Harps that so many are leaving? Might make things a bit interesting at the bottom next season with us and Drogheda (though they seem to have replaced a couple of their departures at least)

Majority of our players have left for either a wage rise, or for European football, or full time football. We've still a handful of last seasons squad who haven't been confirmed as staying or leaving just yet either.

Can't blame lads for taking wage rises or taking on full time football. In Karl O'Sullivans case, it's a two year deal at Sligo as well.

There's nothing in particular going on at Harps, more so a massively underachieving side being taken apart by people who recognised as such.

    We'll be fine though.

    Foley-Move closer to home .
McEleney-move back to his hometown team,European football and playing with his brother
Coyle,Hawkins and Boyd-Full time football and closer to home in Boyds case
Tunde and O’Sullivan -Full time and European football.

All understandable reasons I suppose but a disaster for us and we’ll need Ollie to pull a few rabbits out of the hat again…,

Alfie Lewis to sign for Plymouth, disappointing but not at all surprising. He actually turned them down to stay with us until the end of last season (according to his uncle anyway) so we did well to keep him as long as we did if anything. Will be keeping an eye on him in the future, great player at this level and easily looks good enough to make the step up.

I think it was well understood by Pats' fans that his extension in the summer was a short-term thing to see out the season, but his future was always going to be in the UK. While I think that Kian Corbally (whose style is quite similar to Lewis) will get a fair bit of game time this season, I expect we will bring in one experienced midfielder to give competition to Lennon, Forrester and McCormack. I doubt there's a suitable candidate on the domestic market, it could well be another loan deal from an EPL club building on the success of the Jaros and Lewis loans.

I was delighted when he remained to finish last season. I didn’t expect him to sign back for 2022. He is a promising young player. Best of luck to him.

Eoin Doyle linked with a move to Pats in January. I can’t see it happening but I’d definitely take him as an option up front if possible

Would be great to see it happen but there seems to be some substantial stumbling blocks.

But he’s a big friend of Tim Clancy from their time together at Hibernian.

This has a chance of happening. It would be a major statement by St Pats.

Dinny Corcoran has signed for Wexford. A few players there now that have good premier division experience in Corcoran, Lorcan Fitzgerald, Conor Davis and Aaron Dobbs

Paul Hunt and Conor Barry in there now too. They've a very decent squad this season. Dark horses.
