It appears that the contract as originally signed by SOD gave Pats the option of extending it. In that case they would only have had to formally notify him they were doing so. Which it appears they did.
The documents will all be produced in court if it ever gets that far. No way would Pats be starting a High Court process if they didn’t have the documents as they’d just be throwing their money away.

That would be my interpretation of it. It would be a gamble to take if we were on shaky legal ground. There will be no winners in this. If we win then a mans family could potentially suffer the consequences of his actions if he wins he has tarnished what he has previously achieved anyway. I thought I had seen a lot in my time in the LOI but this has been a particularly dirty episode.

That is a very detailed press release from Pats in the paper. I particularly like Pats wanting to prevent Dundalk from approaching Pats players who aren’t even under contract. Seems to me like this is another attempt by Kelleher to force a settlement so O’Donnell can be construed as a guilty party. The example of Benson as the player who’s contract negotiation with Pats was delayed is particularly funny considering he only ever signed one year deals and always did so in the close season.

A somewhat delusional interpretation of an article from a known paper of record. It it was in the Sunday World then ok but the Times tends to represent the known facts, the known facts might not be conformable to certain parties but they are what they are. The courts will decide all of this & sooner rather than later hopefully.

Read the article again. How many times was the word "claimed" use. This is Tigue reporting on what Pats are claiming not what the facts actually are. "Known facts", Christ on a bike.

Kelleher trying to block transfers to Dundalk is comical and shows the pettiness of the man. Really hope O'Donnell sues for defamation of character.

Contracts don't work like that. Both parties need to agree to an extension. I really hope that is what Pats are claiming as it will be laughed out of court.

Kelleher is trying to bully O'Donnell to admitting he is wrong, settling out of court with a groveling apology. Great that O'Donnell is fighting this.

I would find it incredible to believe that O'Donnell/agency/solicitor agreed to a clause on his original contract in 2019 that Pats could just notify him at the end of the contract they can activate an extension of another 2 years without any signed agreement
The Leinster Senior League needs a strong Bohemians

Needed a good laugh today with the lack of comedy on TV.

Its believable in context of a under qualified candidate looking for his first chance on the coaching ladder. Put yourself in a similar job position. The man held no coaching positions until our owner took a chance on him as he believed in him.

Employee hands in notice as per terms of his contract. Billionaire bigwig owner throws a strop and tries to destroy his career. Maybe you are looking in the wrong direction when questioning someone's character

Layman’s summary of what Pats are claiming their “correspondence” shows:

Kelleher: Just confirming we are activating the extension in your contract.
    SOD and/or agent: Right so.

If any Dundalk fan thinks Kelleher would be going to the High Court without having that under his arm, I admire your optimism.

He conducted opposition analytics for Dundalk and was manager of DKIT. Regardless of this, if you believe anybody would sign a contract that could automatically be renewed without their consent you are deluded. Nobody would sign this regardless of what job position they are in

Of course I wouldn't but that's football. You were playing Bohs however, not like there was a conflict of interest there.

Actually it’s far from unusual in football contracts. The club has an option to extend. The duration of the extension is set out in the contract. In signing the contract, the person is consenting to the extension if it’s activated.
