    WYW v Bohemians

The Kylie and Ellen Show, at least on the score-sheet, coupled with an impressive performance as Wexford easily got past Bohemians in Ferrycarrig this evening. Bohs have put in some cracking performances this season, but Wexford still have their massive cup-final against Shels in a couple of weeks while Bohs’ season is meandering to a close. Wexford definitely had more appetite for the game with final places up for grabs and started with Kiev, Teegan, Lauren, Della, Kylie, Lynn, Lynn Marie, Rossi, Nicola, Aoibheann and Ellen. Wexford were by far the better team in the first half as they stayed in control of the ball and crafted some very good chances. After a sustained passage of passing, Wexford had the first effort on the Bohs goal on three minutes through Kylie Murphy. A minute later, Kylie beat the offside trap to easily finish past Maguire in the Bohs goal and it was 1-0. After some disorganised play, the Bohs defence coughed up the second goal when a stray pass out of the Bohs defence found Ciara Rossiter on Wexford’s left who crossed to find Kylie free in the box again and it was 2-0. With 25 minutes gone, Della Doherty overlapped from fullback to find space down Wexford’s right and her pinpoint cross found Kylie again in the Bohs penalty area and it was 3-0 with a hat-trick for Kylie. Wexford continued to dominate the remainder of the half with Rossi getting close to a fourth Wexford goal and Maguire pushing away a further Kylie Murphy effort on goal. 3-0 to Wexford at half-time with Bohs not having really threatened the Wexford goal.

Wexford replaced Kiev Gray with Maeve Williams in goal at the beginning of the second half. If Wexford had been dominant in the first half, the second half was more “mish-mash” in shape as there were longer periods where neither side exerted any real control of the ball. However, pressure on the Bohs defence produced a fourth goal for Wexford this time through Ellen Molloy for her first of the evening. A Wexford sub then followed with Freya De Mange replacing Lynn Marie Grant who had picked up a yellow earlier on. Further hard work by Ellen Molloy to prevent Bohs from clearing the ball from inside their own area then gave Ellen the chance to double her personal tally to two from close in and it was 5-0. Further substitutions followed for Wexford with Sinead Taylor and Emma Walker coming on before Ellen Molloy completed her hat-trick with her usual stunning left-footed effort from outside the area which gave Courtney Maguire no chance for 6-0. Katie Law then replaced Ellen as Wexford’s final sub before Emma Walker showed some good pace and skill to burst inside the Bohs area and force a Bohs defender to commit a foul. This enabled Aoibheann Clancy to convert from twelve yards late on and it was 7-0.

Overall, very comfortable for Wexford with good performances all over the pitch. Bohs unusually looked subdued but one player who did impress was Abbie Brophy of Bohs who provided a decent outlet for them down the right wing. Particular mention also of Freya De Mange's range of passing skills while Emma Walker looks very lively as a right winger for Wexford. 7-0 at full-time.
