With everything so close there are massive matches across the two series of games.
if anyone can take 6 points over the weekend then Europe or relegation will be massively affected.
For me Dundalk v Waterford and Derry v Bohs are the most obvious head to heads that are potentially season defining.
I expect Rovers to win on Friday against Harps to wrap things up and reckon Ollie will play a scratch team to save themselves for Monday against Drogs but id be happy enough to lose to be honest and help Harps stay up.

If Pats win on Friday, and either Derry or Sligo drop points, they will have confirmed their European spot with four games to spare. The plaudits on Friday will rightly go to the Hoops but that’s also some achievement for Pats, a work in progress with a smaller budget than at least three other clubs.

The phrase "fourth biggest budget" is actually banned on here due to excessive use. Your cunning attempt to get around the filter has been noted.

I said "at least three others". We may not even be 4th biggest.

We’re nothing if not inventive down Inchicore way

On a serious note, very good first full season in charge for Stevie O’Donnell, probable second place, plus a cup final. I don’t mind admitting I thought the jury was still out for him at the start of the season, but he’s done well. We’ve played some lovely ball at times too. Winning the cup would turn a very good season into an excellent one.
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

Another rumour about Dundalk is that one of the groups looking to take over are trying to woo Stephen O'Donnell back to Oriel and willing to pony up to do so. Seen as a man that can settle players jitters about staying at Dundalk - this is one of the lesser off the wall stuff doing the rounds believe it or not!!

Jumping slightly ahead - anybody know why Drogheda's fixtures against Dundalk and Bohs have been changed to Nov 4th and Nov 7th respectively?

It sounds plausible but I’d be surprised to see SOD leave mid project. The team he has assembled is only getting going IMO.

International callups, I would assume. U21 callup for Drogheda's keeper?

He'd need to have a complete break from reality to walk out on Pats for that tire fire.

You are correct. Odumosu expected to be called up. Absolute ****show for the club. Would have expected a sell out for the louth derby but now its on a Thursday so can't see that happening. Our fixtures for the next 9 days, Sligo (A), Harps (A), Dundalk (H), Bohs (A). Brutal on the players.

I’m sure they’d love him back alright. In certain circumstances he might even be tempted, but I think at the moment we’re safe enough. Things are going well for him at Richmond, so why risk that to jump into a complete unknown at Dundalk.

I dont disagree but it would only be a option under new owners and in this case if true an owner he knows well. Again with lots of health warnings, there are some off-field rumours that would be more damaging to some clubs if they ever came to pass than pinching a manager.

Absolute belter of a goal from Matty Smith has us one up in an otherwise scrappy game that I don't think the pitch is helping either team in. One of the better goals I've seen this season.

Not having a go either as I think Longford's coverage has been among the better I've seen this season, but the two lads on commentary are cracking me up with their reactions of utter disbelief to every single decision the referee makes no matter how innocuous it is.

Yeah the lads on commentary were a bit, excitable, let’s say

Cracking bit of skill from Forrestor to set up Matty Smith for the first. Longford were game, but a comfortable enough win for Pats in the end. Agree that the pitch looked poor.

Treaty finish with a win, and a play-off spot. Very good first season. Don't think it'll go any further, but given I thought they'd be fighting it out to avoid the wooden spoon this is pretty good.
