Bonner. Bonner. Bonner. Bonner. Bonner. Bonner. Bonner. Bonner. Bonner. Bonner.

D'ya hear me? That is one class act of a jersey.
Hello, hello? What's going on? What's all this shouting, we'll have no trouble here!

With all the fuss over the orange away kit, and people making the point about our flag being 1/3 orange, this seems so obvious now.

Of course our goalie should wear orange!

Well that was a predictable waste of time. 12-1 (assuming EG's vote is for Bonner, which I think it is, but it's not entirely clear) and Bonner walks into the final while I go to work out what kit in the Salmdolph bracket could have put up a better fight.

In the meantime, we have a very similar line-up in the other semi, and I wonder will the result be the same? Probably; it's the margin that's most in question here I feel. It's blue Randolph v Bonner.

    Paths to the semis
    Blue Randolph
First round - beat Purple Randolph 6-3
Second round - beat Centenary Kelleher 5-4
Third round - beat USA 94 away Bonner 6-3
    Quarter-finals - beat USA 94 home Bonner 5-4

    Treble-chasing Bonner
First round - beat Reprieved Colgan 8-1
Second round - beat Given 8-0 in the Euro kit derby
Third round - beat Purple Randolph 9-1
    Quarter-final - beat Cyan Bazunu 8-1

    Bonner.

I'm looking forward to seeing Bonner vs Bonner in the final. I hear Dustin Hoffman is great in it.

I do like the blue Randolph but it can’t beat Bonner. Even the Mikasa style gloves add to the appeal!

This kit is a boring snoozefest, and you're all mental. It's just a yellow adidas jumper.

Also, points off from pinapple stu for not using the pic of Packie doing that weird teethy grimace thing before booting it up the field for Niall Quinn to score against Holland in Italia '90.

    Edit: There it is.

Ah, you're probably right, but it's a kit with the strongest associations with good times. I would probably hate the Opel branding on the outfield shirts of the time only for the same set of associations. Nostalgia is a huge factor.

I think the crest, the three stripes, and the black shorts lift it above any of the modern uni-colour kits for me (such as blue or salmon Randolph).

I would have had a lot of the mad 90s kits ahead of it though.

Surely the goalie kit that has the greatest association with the good times is the grey version he wore when the nation held it's breath in the Romania game (that got dumped out in the first round). I remember the yellow one as being the the kit he was wearing when he made an almighty ******** of that shot from Donadoni in the Olympic Stadium and ended up sitting on his hole watching Schilacci knock it into an open goal.

I'm not knocking nostalgia. I've been throwing votes at the red/orange/black one from 94 for the same reason, even if Big Paul played so well against Italy that the closest an Italian got to Packie was probably a lad sitting in the stand behind his goal.

That was for Kevin Sheedy's goal against England but, yeah, one of those eternal Bonner moments.

    Bonner by the way.

I'm having a Boner in the 2nd semi, by a short head.

    I'm such a stupid child.

    8-2 for Bonner there.

Blue Randolph is straight back in action though for the third/fourth place play-off. It started with a derby against Purple Randolph, and it ends with a derby against Salmon Randolph. Which one will get that coveted third place spot?

    Paths to the playoff
    Blue Randolph
First round - beat Purple Randolph 6-3
Second round - beat Centenary Kelleher 5-4
Third round - beat USA 94 away Bonner 6-3
    Quarter-finals - beat USA 94 home Bonner 5-4
    Semi-final - lost to Treble-chasing Bonner 2-8

    Salmon Randolph
    First round - bye
Second round - beat Shay Given in Paris 5-3
Third round - beat the 1981 mannequin 5-3
    Quarters - beat Fish-net Colgan 6-5
Semi-final - lost to Black and Orange Bonner 1-12
