Same old crap diff game. The same usual suspects but the lack of direction from within the team is shocking. Noel has a 5 year deal yea?

Terrible stuff again tonight. Is Noel O'Connors background in rugby? Because it isn't football he has us playing anyway. We're kicking for touch and hoofing the ball in the air like a team of demented Johnny Wilkinsons.

Pull the finger out Noel because the honeymoon period is now well and truely over.

Alright can all the people who want to boast about their wonderful away support sod off and find your own tread to do it in? This tread is for the post mortem on last night's debacle!

    Some points.

Lacking in ideas, flair, tactical nous, leadership, communication and in some cases heart and guts. Not a pretty picture.

Ahearne and Kearns on the wings. They probably have about 4 hours football between them in the last month. Leaving that aside. Cosgrove on the bench. Darren Young left to call to find out the score as he seemingly treads glumly towards the RSC. Speaking of the RSC... Kevin O'Sullivan's sliced clearance that led to the first Galway goal... unfortunate and unlucky perhaps but it changed the face of the whole game.

Jamie Nolan started so deeply that Can't Pass was up front on his own. It's hard enough getting him to do the work of one man. Asking him to lead the line virtually by himself is the ultimate in optimism exceeding probability.

Kelleher on the bench was a strange call too though a lot of people have suggested that Robbie looked a bit jaded the last few games so maybe that was the reasoning behind it? I wouldn't have dropped him myself. Manager live and die on such choices.

We played football for about 5 minutes on either side of our goal. Even then though there was a sloppiness and a rushed sorta panic to everything we did. I think that John Whyte's vocalness is being missed this season more than people realise. Communication was at a premium last night. Some of our gang seem to have signed up for a sponsored silence.

Brendan Sweeney was at the game last night. Still crossing my fingers.

Nolan looked better when he pushed up, still not convinced he has anything to offer that Dave Ryan doesn't.

Can't Pass worked again for the most part, had one good chance early on but I still don't think it makes sense to push Derek McCarthy (still our top scorer remember) into midfield to accomadate him. He's afraid of getting hurt and technically he's gone backwards since he first arrived. In fact ever since he returned from running home last season with his tail between his legs after leaving us in the lurch he hasn't looked good enough. He's scored one goal from play (the shot that hit his ar5e as he lay on the ground with his back to the ball against Kildare really doesn't count) and why McCarthy and Kelleher aren't our established strike force is a mystery right up there with those heads on Easter Island.

It's early days for outright pessimism but our bubble has well and truly burst. If this is going to be what's on offer for the rest of the season then Danny Drew will have plenty of reason to bemoan the attendances that will keep on dwindling.

Last night was disappointing. We got into a good position this season but short of miracles I can't see us catching Sligo already. A play-off spot? I wouldn't put anything on it right now.
The ball is round and has many surprises.

Im sorry but what do u expect from a team with not many footballers (total football)2 or 3 out of a dozen can get the ball on the deck and play, the rest are just either seasoned division 1 players or not good enough to play the kind of football that you are talking about.they need quality because they have bags of effort to give.

We know, that's what we've been saying from the start. We need new signings who can pass the ball and influence the pace of the game

Do you see this actually happening though? 3 lost on the trot with CP being below average in all three. No sign of him being dropped though.

In fairness I thought CP was'nt half bad Friday night. Our problems IMO lie in a total lack of anything resembling tactics, the fact that Tommy Barrett and Finny as usual had to cover about four positions between them, an unimposing and all round not very confident keeper, playing two wingers with little match practise while leaving the obvious choices on the bench and at home respectively and allowing Galway far too much time on the ball all over the pitch.

Apart from all that were fine

In my humble opinion, NOC is either a: gone completely crazy and now believes the aim of the game is to loose and not win or b: picking a team on behalf of "some-one else". Unfortunately if neither a or b are acurate then that simply leaves c: not a very good manager at all and that when Pat Dolan referred to him as "the special one" he meant a different type of special then first thought...

Sure he wouldn't even ask Fyffe to sign for Limerick this season.

Very true. And his excuse was that Jimmy would be suited better to the game than O conner would have been.

Ger O'Connor didn't last too long with Limerick either... any idea what happened there, I thought he was alright.

Yet again, more incorrect BS being posted here. Ask Jimmy why he didn't sign and I think you'll find the answer something different.Along the lines of the wages being better in the music business...

Something more to the effect of 'The wages I'm being offered aren't good enough, given my position experience at the club'. Given that he signed for Waterford recently (who are hardly in a position to hurl megabucks at him) your argument doesn't hold much water anymore JoeSoap. NOC, as is his right as manager, didn't make a big effort to secure Jimmy for this season. If we'd had stability between the sticks this issue would have died down a long time ago. It hasn't and I don't think it will anytime soon.
