Wexford surrendered their hopes of a League title in a game of meagre quality in Ferrycarrig this evening. With very few chances created in the entire game, it took a goal of similar quality to the whole 90 minutes to decide the destination of the three points. Wexford started with Kiev, Lolly, Nicola, Della, Edel, Aoibheann, Lynn, Ciara, Ellen, Kylie and Sinead. Galway were the better side in the first half as they marginally looked the more likely to score. Wexford’s Kylie Murphy had a left-footed shot on target after three minutes which proved an easy save for Hayes Coen in the Galway goal. It would be a long time before Wexford would get another shot on target. On nine minutes, Kiev Gray, who was again very reliable in the Wexford goal, got down to save a Galway shot. Midway through the half, Kiev Gray was again called upon to make a save and then a Galway forward shot over the bar when well-placed inside the Wexford area. With players like McCarthy, Kinnevey and Brennan, and with Maebh De Burca playing in front of them, this Galway defence are not going to give up too many goals and Wexford looked like they had it all to do at half-time. 0-0 at half-time.
