Worrell snubs Shels for Rotherham

Experienced former Irish youth international defender Dave Worrell has opted against a move to eircom League champions Shelbourne in order to remain in England.

Worrell played 30 games at Coca-Cola Championship level for Plymouth Argyle last season, but was released by the Home Park club at the end of the campaign.

Shels initiated contact and a return to his homeland looked certain until Rotherham United stepped in over the weekend.

But his decision to join Mick Harford’s side leaves Shels manager Pat Fenlon in need of a defender who can play at both right back and centre half.

Worrell will link up with compatriot Michael Keane at Rotherham as the Millers prepare for their first year back in League One following relegation from the Championship last season.

He's only 28 AFAIK. Besides, Rotheram isn't a team to prove somethign with.
