Good contest, particularly in the second half, enabled Wexford gain a welcome three points in Ferrycarrig tonight, but Cabo will probably feel that they created enough chances to at least draw the game. Wexford began with Jimmy, Thomas, Conor, Lorcan, Karl M, Karl F, Kevin, Dobbo, Jack M. Kyle and Jack D. There was only a moderate breeze in Wexford’s favour in the first half but they didn’t play that well with it as too many passes were overcooked and hit too long. Wexford had a very early chance on three minutes through Kyle Robinson, but his effort on Harry Halwax’s goal was blocked. Cabo then were nearly through on the Wexford goal through Kieran Marty Waters on nine minutes, but Lorcan Fitzgerald’s effort to hold him back was, fortunately for Wexford, not punished by the referee. This was followed by a one-on-one against Jimmy Corcoran in the Wexford goal by a Cabo forward but it was at an acute angle and Jimmy was able to block the shot away for a Cabo corner. Neither side could then create much until just before half-time when Waters for Cabo had a cracking effort on goal which Jimmy Corcoran was happy to deflect over his own bar for a corner. Cabo then followed this by a header on target but Corcoran was able to grab it comfortably enough and it was 0-0 at half-time with Cabo having shaded the half.
