McNulty did not start in goal it was O'Shea who was replaced by Phill Harrington in around the 82min mark but saved a penelty in the shoot out which city won 5-4.

Must say the standard of citys penos was top class.

First half sounds like Cork are really getting into a run of form - good to see (apart from getting hammered by them...) ahead of the European game in a couple of weeks...

It does indeed look promising. And looking at the possible draws for QR2, if Cork get through QR1, they'd have to stand an amazing chance of making the first round proper, and ya never know, could fluke it into the group stages as they seem to be in excellent form. Fingers crossed and all that.

If we get to the group stages it would certainly be no fluke..i know you dont mean anything by it but just wanted to say that..

City are in top form..some of the football today was top class..especially from Fenn and Georgie...i was reading the Hibs forum and there is this touch of arrogance always when British teams come over here..how many will they win by is the usual..well there was only one team out there today and it was not Hibs..but of course they maintain it was there reserve side..someone is lying..

I mean you could draw some incredibly good teams in the first round, and fluke it by, or get a lucky draw (there should be some teams seeded in the first round that are of the same level of quality as seeded teams in QR2 in CL). Of course it's also possible to outplay a world class team on the day, but you know what I'm saying. You're playing great, but you're not CSKA yet! Either way, I'm saying I hope for the sake of the league you do it!

/edit: I also think the first time any Irish team reaches group stages of either competition it will be classed as a fluke except by that particulars teams supporters. It'll be put down to easy draws, off days of thje big teams, whatever, it all remains to be seen!

In the first half we were absolutely awsome. Plus we had several U-21 players playing.

I don't care what the Hibs fans say about their team and howmany reserves they had, no one would have lived with George, Fenn, Roy, Behan and Greg. They were simply magnificent.
Big Derek played very well also (that's 2 really good games under his belt - the first being against Kilkenny - he's nearly back).

The Hibs fans were ranting and raving about George and Fenn. Their first touches and passing was "straight out of the top drawer" as Andy Gray would say!!!

Had we had our full team we would have won 5 or 6 nil.

Have to say it was mistakes from our reserves in the second half that let them get back into it - simple as that. But at that stage our team was unrecognisable.

As Derek said at the end "this is the first of several cups this season".

When i saw the team sheet i didn't know who some of those u-21 players were as probably new this season so wouldn't even have much u-21 experience.

No injuries reported so we should be thankful for that.
This weekend must have done wonders for morale.
Two good wins and a contract for Georgie.
That shirt is a bit too Killkenny-esq for my liking.

9 subs at half time was the only reason hibs weren't sent out of the cross after a proper hammering. With only half a first team we absolutely walloped them.
