    Bands Worth A Listen?

Does anyone one know of seriously good music of modern times of a particular band? Not any of this lame assed Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Part and co. stuff. By serious I mean bands such as the Doves, the Mars Volta and the Kings of Leon....

Both albums by Interpol are pretty good. In some ways they sound heavily influenced by Joy Division, but not quite as dark and dreary.
Funeral by the Arcade Fire is a must. Very different to most stuff that is out there and has been compared to the Talking Heads, Björk and others.
Elbow are also brilliant. Could be difficult to get into, but worth a few oplays as I am sure it will grow on many people. Cast of Thousands, their last album, is probably the better of the 2 to start with. their new album is due out within the next couple of months.

For pure fun, the Killers "Hot Fuss". Many have tried this 80's sound and failed, eg the Bravery (truly forgettable), but Brandon Flowers and his merry band have pulled off one stonker of an album.

El Presedenti are well worth a listen remind me a bit of Janes addiction, latest song is a cracker. I also go along with Interpol.

Sadly most radio stations just seem to think alternative and indie music just means playing Keane and Snow Patrol (ourweeminds favourite band for some reason over and over again, both of which I think are a load of bland sounding b@llocks.

Go along also with Hot Fuss by the Killers.
Its crazy to see people be what society wants them to be but not me.

Oh God another music fascist on Foot.ie...

How can you call Doves a band and not Bloc Party? Hmmm?

I recently discovered the joy of Radiohead so i need not other music , but as someone else said Interpol or El Presidenti are good.

Yeah well I liked the Last Broadcast. I loved Bloc Party about a month ago but now they just seem childish, the screeching guitar and irritating vocals and lyrics. 6They do have a great rhythm section though possibly the best around at the moment. I know Interpol are good and I haven't heard of El Presidenti (what do they sound like?) but what I mean is what are the next big thing?

HAL are great, as are the Magic Numbers. Interesting combo of people in it, 2 sets of brother and sister, create great harmonies.

Mylo is also very different and a class act.

Modern music is not my thing at all. Check out some Echo & The Bunnymen

There seems to be a very good song by some nude blue-skinned frog these days though I've heard
