In fairness now, its the same as the match of the day situation showing Manchester Utd every week when they were champs, we've won 2 titles in a row and had an excellent european run too, which made a lot of people sit up and take notice, 20,000 anyone???
But tbh where I'd expect to see a lot of Shels live, I'd hope they'll show more of other clubs too!

Because they're trying to promote the league and show it in a positive light, if the grounds look awful on TV the matches and the league will too no matter how good they actually are.Originally Posted by centre mid
Well after Bohs/Rovers and Bohs/Pats, I think they decided at least something happens in Shels games (even if its just getting to see them lose), cuz the other games were mind numbingly boring!!![]()

The coverage of our match has just started on Setanta and it appears that its free, hope it stays that way.![]()
That possible merge talked about a while back appears to have happened, the tool McDowell on Setanta said "Derry City vs Shelbourne Rovers" nice to see a harmonious end to recent hostilities![]()
"The Derry fans were fantastic in both matches. They sang their hearts out all the time and created an even better atmosphere than the Cup Final. They were brilliant. - David Graham, Gretna striker
Where did it say that the game was on at 9:45?? The Shels V Derry game is on now and is LIVE!!!
Never mind Match of the Day these are completly different things.Setanta show live matches not highlights.Originally Posted by Drumcondra Red
I think posters here are pulling hairs when complaining about the games shown. It's an unavoidable fact in this country, that most people live in Dublin, most of the national media outlets are based in Dublin, and almost half of the Premier Division teams are based in Dublin, so of course, that is going to be reflected in the coverage of NL games. They're hardly going to start traipsing to Cobh, Limerick, or Sligo to cover live First Division games now, are they??
First, people moaned about the lack of tv coverage in the league. Then they moaned about TV3's coverage. Then it was about games shown on tv always being Dublin derbies, then it was about games with match commentaries as Gaeilge, now it's about the coverage of Dublin teams. No matter what happens, people will whinge. Yes, it's unfair that Dublin teams are shown regularly, but it's hardly surprising given the current set-up, and demand for glamour in this country. The Dublin teams are glamourous, they attract the viewers, they are close to the media's head offices, so they are going to get the most coverage on tv. Fact.
I believe that Setanta's LOI coverage is going to shake up this league, and people's perception of it. They will have games live, and deferred, with regular repeats shown during the following week and beyond. They also innovated the successful Setanta Cup, and market their games well, in comparison to other stations piecemeal coverage. The more the league is shown, the more people watch it, the more people come to games, the more money clubs get, which in turn is invested in a more professional playing set-up at club level, which makes a better product, while improving facilities at NL grounds, thereby encouraging even more people to attend games. Setanta's coverage is going to revolutionise this league, in the same way that Sky's revolutionised English football. The LOI really needs decent coverage, and Setanta are able, and
more importantly willing, to provide it.![]()

I agreed with alot of the sentiment of that post .... but alot of the content is just garble in fairness !!
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
Saw some of the delayed repeat of match last night.
Riverside - empty (looked particularily weel when could see from camera at Ballbough end)

Well I was hoping it would be TG4's turn to show a game next Friday as I don't have Setanta and my lot are away on Sunday in Waterford and I can't go. So no footie for me next Friday then![]()

Also Bohs have the best league form at the moment and 2 former internationals in thier team. Setanta also didnt have any problems broadcasting from the X.
Also if Setanta want to get subscriptions outside of Dublin maybe they should show games outside Dublin? If people see it as an exclucive Dublin channel then they wont be interested in it![]()
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.
If Setanta want to attract as many Dublin viewers as possible then they are going about it the wrong way entirely.
a) Firstly they are showing Shels games, and they have no Fans anyway so that doesn't leave a lot of people left watching at home.
b) Surely any Dublin fans interesting in watching a game in Dublin would actually go to the game rather than watch it on TV.
c) and to continue with point b), showing games outside of Dublin (but featuring a dub team) would make more sense cos then you'd be attracting viewers who would want to watch the game but maybe couldn't make the away trip.
Ya, thats always puzzled me when derbies are shownOriginally Posted by sullanefc

But derbies are typically meant to be good games, and a good advertisement for the league. I can't go to Richmond on Friday, so delighted the game is on live![]()
