    FAI Cup 3rd Round Draw

    Longford Town v UCD
    Dundalk v Drogheda United
    Shamrock Rovers v Douglas Hall
    Derry City v Kildare County
    Cork City v Finn Harps
Sligo Rovers v St Patrick's Athletic
    Bray Wanderers v Cherry Orchard
    Bohemians v Wayside Celtic

You would have to fancy Longford, Drogs, Rovers, Derry, Cork, Sligo, Bray and Bohs i reckon

When are those games on? Can't find the dates anywhere! Think it's the first weekend in August??

Wouldn't write us off yet. There wasn't much between us when we played in the league, and we've both improved form-wise since then. Plus, we're used to knocking out multiple-time holders after beating Rovers in 1988 to end their hopes of four-in-a-row!

Fairly boring draw actually - Sligo look like the only non-Premier team with a chance of getting through. Drogheda and Derry beat Dundalk and Kildare last year, so don't see why they can't do it this year either, especially as Derry have improved since and Kildare and Dundalk are going backwards. Bray and Rovers get lucky with a second non-league tie in a row!

As known I'm moving to the UK within a few weeks, very likely Belfast. With Shels out of the cup already I was hoping for a game close to the border, seems Longford-UCD is my only option...

Whats wrong with an hour and a half drive to Derry?
And yes the "UK" label is troubling...

Explain please. If I find a good job which allows me to save some more money, which allows me to make more travels, and that job happens to be in Belfast... What is wrong with that ??

Does this mean I am turning my back on Shels or the EL ?? Of course not, I am still planning to come over often to see games and I am not taking any political stand. Explain me what is wrong with me accepting a good professional opportunity just because it happens to be north of the border ?

Gerrit, I think you'll find the problem is there are people who will take exception to you calling the six counties the "UK"!!!. How long have you been here like?

I use the label "UK" because it is not 100% sure yet, the company could also place me in Glasgow. Also a nice opportunity and new challenge, though it seems more likely for now to be a branch in Belfast. Which would by the way be easier to continuing my current social life, including regular EL football.

as belfast is more likely but no certainty yet, I used the term "UK". Please don't seek a political motive behind this simple sentence ?! This has NOTHING of sectarian undertone intended. Belfast is UK territory (and I won't start on if it should be or not - it's no political thread) and so is Glasgow ; so I state 'moving to the UK' because in both cases it is correct, and because I don't have any political undertone intended so I just said something without thinking others would search any such undertone in it.

Reminds me of the League Cup round 2 draw. All non Premier sides drew Premier sides. As people already said only real possible upset I can feel on the cards is Sligo v Pats. From a personal point of view I don't want Longofrd away. They seem to be invincible in the cup, though it provides a chance for some glory in shattering their run.

Poor Student, I think UCD will put Longford out in a replay. After Corks attempts against Galway, I wouldn't be too surprised if Harps take them back to Ballybofey.
