    Mobile phones

My mobile phone is in bits. It's actually the first and only phone I ever bought, nokia 3310 (was probably one of the last people to get a mobile, well i was in collage, cos i thought they were stupid things !!)

Phone is currently been held together will cellaptape - aint going to last much longer. Going to try and save a few bob over the next few weeks to get a new one.

What phone do people recommend (price wise and itll be a ready to go and i want it to be one of those picture phones, just to be cool !!!).

One of the lads here got a motorola for 150e (i think) and he can play videos and everything on it. Just a bit weary about moving from nokia as i couldnt say a bad word about my nokia3310 !!

Just got a Nokia 6230. Very happy with it so far, and has camera, video, recorder etc.

Wouldn't go Motorola - seem to have shít reception compared to nokia (the missus has one) and it'd take a bit of getting used to the predictive text on them too.

I like predictive text, but can't get on with the motorola version. Just too used to nokia after all these years I suppose....

Anyway, it was €79 for an upgrade for me as I'm monthly contract with O2. Not sure what the pay as you go upgrade would be.... If you're pay as you go and use your phone a lot, have a look at the new customer offers for contract - probably get it cheaper than that again...

Nokia 6230 is the way to go. Top phone. Love my one! You should get one free with a pay monthly contract.

I get 100 free minutes and 250 free texts and my bill averages only about £25.

The Nseries of Nokia phones will be available soon if you can wait for them. If not, then the Nokia 6230i is a good GSM phone or the Nokia 6680 is a great 3G/GSM phone.
Also be aware the 3 are ready to launch in Ireland so they're certain to have some great offers.

It's a good idea to go into as many phone shops as you can, looking at the various models and price plans available.

If I could understand them, then perhaps I could concur but I'm afraid they make no sense at all to me.

You should be able to get an upgrade for a decent enough price. Check out your network's site.
I'd thoroughly recommend a phone with a radio.

My Nokia 3330 (while being charged) was put in a full pint of water for a few seconds the other morning when I was tired/1/2 a sleep/hungover. The battery short fused but I replaced it and it still works good as new

Motorola are working on an iTunes phone with Apple, one of the Nokia N-range has a 4GB memory, and is designed for playing mp3's

There are a good few Nokia phones on the market that play MP3 format files. Mine has RealPlayer pre loaded on it. In order to play WMA format files however, you may need to purchase a seperate application.
I'd be very surprised if there isn't already one available for Symbian Series 60 Series 90 type phones.

I don't know about normal WMA files, but for secured ones, I'd imagine you'd have to get some sort of security certificate from Microsoft, perhaps some of the smart phones running Windows Mobile Edition (or whatever it's called) can play them?

I get most of my info about new phones here - http://www.infosyncworld.com

Similarly to Cosmo, whats the best phone around. I dont want a nokia, will never go back to them.

Ive a Samsung E700 at the mo, and as Ive mentioned, Im thinking of the new Samsung, although the guys at work reckon the Sony Ericsson is the way to go. dont need an MP3 player, as i love my Rio Karma, but its got to have a decent camera, defo bluetooth, video messaging would be an added bonus. And its got to be small - needs to fit in a very small handbag. Any ideas greatfully received, thanks

I've installed apps on my phone which required certificates and the phone knows how to process the certificates.
The only thing is that the phone may have to connect to the Internet to request the certificate???

can you get these on o2 when they are out?

have a 6610 myself with about 2 years and hasn't given me a bother.super fone even though it hasn't camera, video facilities.will be upgrading soon.those 3 g things sound good.might be woth waiting for.
i'm on bill and its well worth it.so much less hassle and its saves you money.i'm only a light user and its worth it.no more rushing to get credit is the job.i'd also reccomend a nokia.so user friendly.a cinch to use.

They're 3G phones so it depends on O2
Symbian Series 60 and Series 90 phones are the business!
You'll wonder how you ever used a 2.5G GSM phone.
I have the Nokia 6630, which I'm really impressed with, and will upgrade in 5 months an Nokia N Series phone.
This coming from one of Nokias biggest critics who refused to buy one of their phones.
