Derry City booked an eircom League Cup quarter-final date with Drogheda United with victory over the last remaining First Division side in this season’s competition at the Brandywell on Sunday evening.
The Candystripes went into the game with an understrength side as manager Stephen Kenny opted to give game-time to the fringe members of his squad, including goalkeeper Patrick Jennings, fit-again midfielder Barry Molloy and wide man Gareth McGlynn.
