He wasn't in the Derby squad last night. Though that could have been for a number of reasons.
Since the last Brighton interest he has signed a new contract with Derby. Maybe there's a release clause in there, but if he hadn't signed it he would be in the last six months of his contract now and in a much stronger position to get his big move. Would have to question his decision to sign that contract if he doesn't get the move this month.

I know -- I'm puzzled too. When Carlton Palmer told FLW today that Cashin is "very, very good player", I thought at first that he was referring to Eiran's football skills, but perhaps he was commenting on young Eiran's moral and spiritual values and activities.

After going quiet for a few days, there seems to be reports in Derby that this transfer is back on as they need the cash to get a few players in before the transfer window closes.
Fee agreed between Derby and Brighton, according to Sky Sports News.

Its really not that complicated!!!
Would assume that's a transfer record for an uncapped Irish player.
Cashin, Cannon and Jake O'Brien have now transferred for a total of about £45m yet have only five caps between them.
If Cashin starts playing EPL.games he'll presumably come into the Ireland squad, especially given he's a left footer. But how many centre backs can we realistically pick? Collins and O'Shea are certain, O'Brien and Omobamidele are likely to be in if they're playing regular top division football, and then there's Cashin. So that's five and you still have Scales and McGuinness, who both started our last game. And there's also Jimmy Dunne who is in great form as well, that's a lot of centre backs to accommodate. Poor Luke McNally hasn't a hope and it's not looking good for Duffy or Egan either. How's Darragh Lenihan's injury situation these days?
Dunne has played at right back for the last 18 months and has looked at lot better there than at centre half. Might be worth a look for us there.
I think that's probably the only position he's really in contention for. Could Cashin be tried at left back in a flat back four maybe - could be an option against high level opposition in particular? If we do try the Collins stepping into midfield thing again we could be pioneers of the five centre backs on the pitch strategy.
It was good to see Cashin referencing his Ireland ambitions in his first Brighton interview anyway.
If we had problems like that in other positions, we'd be a lot better off!

It probably has. It's good - but none of the options are playing at a really top level. It's a variety of functional players really. I'd take peak Richie Dunne over any of them for example. Though we have had a lot of functional players there down the years - O'Dea, St Ledger, McShane from our Euro 2012 squad alone.
It's good that we can afford to leave out some functional players - cos we have to start them in other areas.
But for example Scales is the only one playing in Europe - and even then he's lost his place in a side that probably wouldn't get into Europe if they were playing in England.
In fairness it did take Richard Dunne a while to get to his peak level ~ I actually remember some people that I know personally writing him off, in his earlier years ~ I could see something in him, if he got his act together, which he did ~ Thankfully, great to see a young man do so well.
Decent enough centre-backs if they can click as a, pair / three / system that suits them ~ And of course it would be a great bonus, if one of them could do a good job in midfield even if it was only in certain suitable games !
