Surprised at Brighton not getting it done on time though as they've been chasing him all summer.

Scores one and assists another as Derby come from 2-1 down to lead Oxford 3-2 late on. Would be their ninth win in 11 games if they hold on, so may be going up a division next year even if the transfer speculation doesn't come off. Seems to have been playing really well this season, though obviously Championship would be a step up, as would most international stuff.

Derby County have activated a clause in Cashin's contract to keep him at the club until mid-2025 and consider him as not for sale. One could say they won't cash in on his estimated market value. (Sorry :-) ) With his former manager Wayne Rooney no longer at Birmingham, that's one potential destination gone.

Cashin reflects on 'the move that got away' at the end of the recent transfer window. Will Brighton come knocking again in July?

Didn't know he signed a new three year contract last month. Hopefully he got a release clause added into the contract.

Makes the League One team of the season, alongside Portsmouth's Conor Shaughnessy.

Seems one thing we're definitely not short of is promising centre-backs anyway. Both look like being Championship players next season.

Went off injured 20mins into today's game with a possible head injury. Was down for a bit getting treatment but was able to walk off the pitch.

I saw him against Blackburn and he looked like he has bulked up. Hel seemed a bit sluggish to be honest. He has impressed me previously.

Appears to be adapting to the Championship well with a goal and clean sheet last night in the 4-0 win over Portsmouth.

Flying under the radar for us slightly with our relative abundance of talent in the position, however Brighton’s interest appears to be continuing, which a hamstring injury yesterday might ward off in this window.

Only just 22 and made Captain after 140+ senior appearances with fans gushing with praise lately - certainly worth a closer look in upcoming squads…

Was a very good header for his goal. He looks a really decent player, only slight mark against him is that he's an inch or two shorter than our other centre back options. But I don't think he's that short that he can't play international football or anything like that, as long as the rest of his game is good enough.

Derby had some interesting set piece routines last night. Harness played well also.

Canavarro is only 5'9 and is one of the all-time greats.

Can't be that far away from a call-up now.

Obviously a well-run club like Brighton showing interest doesn't happen for no reason, and the fact that he's left-footed plays in his favour, you would think.

18 months on form their last attempt, Brighton are reported to be back in for Cashin. Would be a great opportunity for him.

We've only had a handful of games since he stepped up to Championship football, and we're crowded in his position. I'm sure they're looking at him anyway.

I'm no authority on him and have only seen him a handful of times but he hasn't ever overly impressed me. He also just seems too short and a bit too stocky for a CB. But if Brighton are in for him, I'm happy to be totally in the wrong!
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

Yeah, I find it interesting that Brighton, of all teams, seem to be repeatedly interested in him. We know their algorithm is good at spotting hidden gems that other teams overlook, similar to what Brentford do, allowing both clubs to punch well above their weight.

But on the face of it I'd love to know what it is about Cashin that has convinced them he's Premier League material. He's a tough, committed, hard working centre back, but he's not the tallest and not the quickest out there by a stretch. There must be something they're seeing that makes him more of interest to them than the likes of Mark McGuinness, Andrew Omobamidele or Dara O'Shea, who have all transferred from Championship clubs in the last couple of years. Presumably Cashin would be less expensive, but he would evidently also need to be better than someone like Omobamidele to get a game at an established EPL club like Brighton.

If Brighton are in for him, especially two years in a row, we're all missing something special. Their scouting track record is too good.
