Well for me I aint deciding until the venue is decided. I'd rather go via holyhead if it's going to be as near from Fishguard...

Better for accomodation in Swansea, but I'd rather go and take over some smaller place...

Why couldn't we have just got Rhyl - even if that had been moved it would only be a very short hop to Wrexham...

The word on the street is that we are leaving Longford on Monday night for an early sailing Tuesday morning. We are staying in Cardiff and being brought by bus to the match which is supposedly being played in Newtown ( a few pints in the castle inn so ) and we are returning on Friday.Prices are estimated at €270 approx and all will be confirmed tonight.

I suppose it's a good few days, but still seems to be trying to make it an expensive trip.

Think i'd be looking at staying somewhere nearer the venue or Carmarthen....

I've heard it all now... Longford fans complaining about drawing Welsh team

Does €270 include accomadation? Why starting trip so early on Monday?

If it's a travel agent organising it, then they have to make their money somehow...

this is going to be so impractical, Surely if the trip is going for three nights it would be leave on tuesday night and return on saturday. a days annual leave less.

As well as that, Carmarthen at least deserve something out of qualifing and we should at the very least call in for a night and enjoy the place... What would we think if their support lived it up in dublin and trips to Longford for the bloody day alone.

I'm very damn sure someone is expressing an interest by staying in fooking cardiff.

Agree with Xlex wednesday to friday/saturday is much better. Hopefully we get a second trip so i will need the annual leave. Carmarthen seems a nice place on the tourist guides, it has to be worth a night there at least.

€270 does that include Longford to Rosslare bus, ferry and bus from Fishguard to Cardiff, 3 nights accomodation and match bus ? I suppose it doesn't sound too bad when all the travel is included

Only got Thursday and Friday off so going to fly Ryanair to Cardiff Thursday morning and fly back Saturday.Around €28.00 return. Get a train to Newtown I guess, a couple of ones going from Cardiff, I reckon it's more than 20 miles from Carmarthen though, there's a few Newtowns, the one we want is in Powys I believe, in Mid-Wales.

We arrive in Cardiif around 10.30, think there's a train around 13.30 or so. Could take around four hours. Check out www.traveline.cymru.org should be more info there

Just spoke to Newtown Tourist office, apparently it's around a 2 and a half hour drive from Newtown to Carmarthen and Cardiff. MAkes it aukward for hitting last orders in either post match!!
Is there no beginning to that mans talent !!

That train journey looks a right ball ache tbh, my thinking is kinda going back to ferry from Dun Laoghaire and driving it down to Newtown and staying there for a couple of nights. Ferry and Drive would be less time than the train journey from Cardiff....

As far as i am aware the price is all inclusive. Please also be aware that even though Carmarthen and newtown are ok sized towns there may only be 3 pubs in each. This is a common problem outside of Ireland where towns with a population of 8,000 don't have 30 pubs and a few nite clubs so be prepared.
I don't see why we can't arrive sometime on the Wednesday,go on the batter.
Leave for the match early on the Thursday,go on the batter then go to match and go back on the batter.
Get up early friday,go on the batter and come home saturday morn. All will be sorted this evening anyway.

Can't be right Murph - you sure you got the right 'Newtown' ? Wales if full of the places.

Do a google search for 'Newton AFC, Wales, and you'll see it 'a hell of a lot closer to Carmarthen on a map than 2 and a half hours.... . It's the same journey time from London to both places !

Think it was the right place I'm afraid Newtown in Powys. Club website says it's 2.5 hours from Cardiff as well.

Common problem in Ireland too - Tallaght population over 100,000, number of pubs 3...

I'm not all that interested in a city break in Cardiff tbh, but will wait and see what the story is from the meeting tonight. Certainly in it's current form it's way too early (and long) for me. Particularly as I'd hope to be getting another trip
