Best home debut since Robbie Keane against Argentina in 98. Agree with some of the comments ive seen doing the rounds that he could be someone you see playing in defensive midfield at some point.

Would be shocked him he isn’t playing for a big club at some point in his career. With his attributes he’s the sort of player more valuable to a big team than a team like Norwich.

Would say he does need to fill out a good bit though but that will happen over time.

He does look a little bit undersized, that's probably a concern in making it to the highest level, but otherwise he's got a lot of attributes that would suit a top level team. Ooh ah Andy O has a ring to it too!

He was on track to start in the premier league for Norwich but for a knock in the week before the opening game. He's carried his end of season form into pre-season and you can see in his Irish performances that wasn't a fluke. I think he'll be starting for Norwich shortly too the way it's going for them, hopefully with Idah getting more chances there too.

I would be very confident of this guy being a star! He is over 6 foot btw.
I would say he will be back in the norwich team sooner rather then later and he will be in our team for most games in this campaign ( don't forget Dara O shea is out)
I would be of a view norwich wont be able to keep him.
Did u see how confident he was in his post match interview he was answering questions while having a laugh with one of his mates off camera. He is 19!!

I think it was Shane Duffy too telling him not to be nervous. As if.

There was a real feeling of dread when O'Shea had to go off injured against Portugal, and the news yesterday that he won't play again this year is terrible, but that injury meant that Omobamidele has made his debut, and now his first start, and has not looked out of place at all, and now will more than likely play the remaining four games this year

He says both- "Go on big man" and "don't be nervous."

I feel that this thread has the potential to get out of hand. We need Pineapple Stu to offer some sobering reality...

I watched the first half and he did really well. Was caught out once with a ball over the top but was very composed. Made some good tackles, blocks and showed well for the ball as Norwich are another team that plays out from the back.

    He's an extremely talented lad.

I'd be tempted to play him as a defensive midfield pivot in our next round of matches, with Duffy, Egan and Clark as our back three.

It's an interesting idea - alongside Cullen or instead of him?

    --------------------Bazunu
    -----------Collins Duffy Egan
    Coleman Cullen Omo'dele Doherty
    ---------------------Knight
    ----------------Idah Robinson

I have used Collins instead of Clark there as he was in the last squad. It seems like there could be potential in something like that. If Omobamidele has the skillset to step into midfield that looks like a decent team.

I thought the same thing watching him the last night. Has he any priors in midfield?

Seems to have had a decent game. I didn't realise they brought in Kabak from Schalke. There would surely be doubts over Hanley and Gibson adapting to the Premiership so one can see why they brought in another option. It should be interesting to see how many games Andrew gets.
