    Surely that isn't cheap ?

You'd think he'd realise that the game is up for him really.

A large untapped sport hungry urban demographic, an unused football brand with history and a new league big enough to capture Pat's ego. There's no man with less to lose in senior football. Now it's all beginning to make sense.

All about shipping players to England, L1 & L2 will do fine, as long as there is a few bob by the sounds of it.

“I’m not going to say they’re going to go into the first team [at Derby], but the opportunity to come and get a career and move to an English club will be there, because of the connections that I have in the game, not just in Derby County but throughout the English leagues. You might look at League One or League Two, so I think that was attractive to Pat — the opportunities potentially for some of the better youngsters [to move].”

How many clubs over the years have talked about or initiated a link with a club in Britain, and how many of those have actually led to anything much ?

Richard Dunne going to Everton via Home Farm Everton is the only one I can think of. And that was a one-off.

It's fair to say that the outcome of these sorts of links never matches the hype in advance.
