Didn't he let in a howler against Harps as well?

Rovers made it harder then it needed to be, deserved to win but need to improve in the final third, to many chances being missed

He looks extemely poor. Howler last week thankfully. Should have easily saved Shams second. Even the first viewed from a certain angle doesn't look like he made much effort to get to it. I'd give him the benefit of that one. Sharp contrast to Mannus in the other end despite his age proving to be by far the best keeper in the League. He's irreplaceable to Rovers atm

I think Dundalk aren’t what they were but still a decent side in this years league. They will have to sort out the management situation. I can’t see the current set up working out.

Rovers 2nd game of the season and christ did it show. Great goal by Danny, but Rovers looked lethargic in the 2nd half and invited pressure on themselves. We'll need to improve significantly, as we won't be facing cretins in the opposition goal every week.
A lot to work on, for sure.

Strange game, rovers seemed comfortable throughout the game but Dundalk definitely had the better chances. I think if you swap the 2 goalkeepers you could have potentially flipped the result.

Longford looked unlucky to be beaten based on the highlights

Agree a lot for Rovers to on but we’ll improve - plus missing Pico & O’Brien left us exposed at the back but overall we were way better than Duns whose main tactic appears to be to kick the **** out of Burke and for (Shields particularity)to fall over at slightest touch; Duns are a shadow of what they were ; is it now 12 points from last 12 games ?

Hopefully injury to Gartland not too serious and he recovers.

Yeah Pico is a big miss, plus Joey but its almost a positive now , they are rested and ready for next week and we have the 3 points.

Don’t think either of those teams looked great tonight and if I was to make a judgement based on the one game I have seen them in (and I will as I love a rash call) they are both much poorer versions of themselves than in any of the recent years.

There may just be a sniff of a chance for a team from the pack to have a go this year.

Pico won't be back any time soon. Two weeks quarantine and then whatever time it takes to get back to match fitness.

Watching the goals back, Abibi is very poor.
    Will Fillipo drop him though?

It will come down to squads, in my view. dundalk & Rovers have squads that will cope with 40+ games this season, but I'm not sure either pats or sligo do. And I wouldn't see anyone else challenging.

That was a nervy one in the end. I thought we still look a bit rudderless but hopefully gametime will fix that. We gave up too many chances and Dundalk should have taken at least one of them. Cheers to Mr Abibi for the winner.

Ye look a pretty decent side, not the relegation fodder that newly promoted Longford teams have been in the past,

It's far too early to pass any definitive judgements obviously but are any of the Dundalk lads willing to acknowledge some early trepidation at the keeper so far? The murmurings of an international call up seem quite fantastical based on the last couple of games.

Obviously it's easy to say things with hindsight but it seemed a weird signing from the outset.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a Dundalk fan who is happy with him. I was one who thought he deserved a chance but it's hard to back him after the last 2 games. His mistakes have cost us points in both. There are more issues than the keeper but mistakes in this position are usually fatal.

We weren't great last night but neither were Rovers, the difference was they have a top keeper.

It took Rovers time to get that position sorted and it cost them for years. We need to get it sorted quickly

Took him a while but good to see Georgie Kelly finally put a good shift in for us.

As stated after Longford game, Derry are in serious trouble.
