The website was chugging a bit when I went to get into the stream of UCD v Athlone at 7:44 but once in the stream was clear and stable. I can only remember the camera falling totally behind play once or twice. I think it's a decent product for what it is at about €2.90 per game assuming you only watch your own team.

Has the camera and streaming infrastructure been purchased by the clubs or the league or is it just a rented service?

Have to say I thought the coverage of the Galway game was excellent. Shame Vinny Flaherty’s co commentators mic didn’t work

How can match coverage be described as excellent when there's no replays and problems with the audio?

LoITV has the option for replays - or at least, you can just rewind the video and watch again.

Audio problems are just first-day teething issues and easily resolved.

Overall I thought it was quite decent. Nothing to being at the match of course, but it could well be a way to watch games you can't get to in the future.

Them cameras have been in place for weeks and there were opportunities to test them during pre-season friendlies. It's just a typical inferior FAI product.

Well it's not an FAI product at all, so I think that's harsh.

The cameras work as well as the tech will allow. It's one club saying that the audio on one mic didn't work. And Cork's demand seems to have broken the bandwidth. That needs to be kept in perspective.

It was commissioned by the League of Ireland, a branch of the FAI, so as long as they're charging for it, it's their product and it's very FAIish.
If it can't handle the demand for a Cork City First Division game, what's it going to be like for a Bohs v Rovers match?

Why would it be used for a Bohs v Rovers game? Are ye both planning on getting relegated?

It's new technology being rolled out during covid, so I don't think there's a particular need to be getting too het up over teething issues tbh.

As a gesture of goodwill they should give a voucher for a game to those that bought the Cork game. A person I know missed the majority of the first half with the issues.

I used Bohs v Rovers as an example because I had heard that Premier matches are moving to LOITV for the second half of the season.

Fair enough. Well in that case, yes, they need to sort streaming capacity out, but a broken mic is something that can easily happen and easily be fixed.

    Argh. Deleted my post.
We had the most subscribers for watchloi last season. If they didn't expect high demand for the first game of the season and the first real Cork Derby in 13 years then thats ridiculous.
It was unwatchable in the first half last night. I had to refresh because the stream froze or dropped entirely 12 times in the first half alone. Once it took over two minutes for the stream to come back up.
We had issues last year too on watchloi including the Sligo game at the Cross where the stream was down the entire game. One of the few games we won all year.
It may well have worked for other games but if they are unable to handle demand and thats what caused last nights issues then I doubt they will have them solved by next week. Shambolic stuff.

Pretty sure there were internet issues in Turner's Cross on more than one occasion last year. Perhaps was the reason for the issues last night too?
https://kesslereffect.bandcamp.com/album/kepler - New music. It's not that bad.

Possibly but that doesn't explain how much better it was in the second half when the club was streaming their own version and the audience was split across two systems.

Yes I’d love replays but if I go to a LOI game I don’t get replays. Just watch the game as if you’re at it.

Yes the coverage of the Cork v Waterford game last year had major problems and I think a refund was given to anyone who bought the one off game. It's ridiculous that these issues weren't sorted for the new season.

I take your point and for the hard-core fan thats probably ok. But for the floating fan or for trying to attract new fans then it isint even close to good enough at the minute.

Look at our game on RTE the other night. Two cracking goals and seeing them replay after replay from all kinds of angles only added to it. Its what people expect.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!

Shouting criticism at the referee hasn't got the same satisfaction in your living room.

Pretty sure the commentator for Bray/Treaty is calling them "Trinity United".

Edit: 11 minutes in he has acknowledged he was mis-labelled them.
