    Foot.ie decides - Ireland's best away kit

    Starts on Monday!

30 away kits, including some that were never worn. Will this one be as clear-cut as the last two, when Ronnie Whelan and the Italia 90 kit romped home?

We'll also decide Ireland's worst away kit along the way.

As before, tourney will last about a month, and will take us through the upcoming triple header when traffic will probably increase a smidge

OK - here we go so.

Same story as previously - two head-to-head rounds per day, one starting in the morning and one starting in the evening, and each lasting 24 hours, so when one closes, another opens and there'll always be two open at any one time outside of the start and end of a round. In the event of a tie, I'll discount my own vote (or add a casting vote, if I forgot to vote)

And let's get straight down to the controversy. To start off, we've the 1983-84 away kit up against the Macedonia top from 1996-98 (also once worn against Northern Ireland, ironically enough)

    Which one gets your vote?

Next bout goes live at 6pm!

I'm going for the Macedonia top from 1996-98. Yes, it's forever associated with one of the worst results in our history but I remember really liking it at the time. I have a very odd liking for orange and fluorescents that I developed at some stage of childhood and never fully grew out of!

Not even the man from Del Monte could like the orange in the Macedonia top. Not too keen on the stripes in the 83-84 effort, but it has has a good, simple cut and could make a decent retro kit.

    83-84 for me.

I hate pin stripes on football shirts. I don't mind the orange one, it was different anyway. 96-98 for me.

I loved the orange one and think we should incorporate the colour more into our away kits. Our colours are green white and orange, I don't like when they add gold like this 80s one and our current home kit.

    So voting for 96-98.

83-84 for me. always had a fondness for our shirts around that time.
the orange macedonia one is shocking. Wasn't that the shirt that €1m worth of them were stolen from an umbro warehouse in Dublin?

I very strongly agree with this line of thinking.

Luminous is never good on a football kit, and in regular day to day things usually signals some kind of inconvenience or authority figure is lurking about.

    Luminous is never good.

Just for clarity YoP, am I to take that as a vote for the 83/84 kit?

Really not liking the pin stripes I have to say. Not massively sold on the Macedonia kit either, but at least there are no pin stripes on that one.

    So I'll go 96-98.

I agree! If we were to have an orange one now, I'd tone it down a bit.

Wouldn't mind something off the wall like orange and white stripes or something different. Our away kits have been plain white for too long now and the flirting with the black/grey kits didn't work either.

    96 / 98 Orange for me
It has got me to vote in this for the first time, mainly due to my memory of Dunphy laughing about how ' our friends in the north would love it too ' on the match broadcast or words to that effect.
