Angry An open letter to Liam Murphy,

Dear Liam,
would you like to explain to us exactly what you are trying to do at city, that is if you have any clue yourself.
You are systematically getting rid of our best, most loyal and most experienced players for no (or pathetically low) transfer fees and have discarded a number of promising young players with out giving them a fair crack of the whip.
You have also blamed everyone in sight for our failures this season- opposition, referees, pitches, linesmen etc., have you ever thought the blame might lie closer to your own doorstep, if not at your feet? Your substitutions have bewildered even your most ardent supporters, while your tactics cannot be commented on because they are either non-existent or too complicated for anyone (your own players included) to understand.
You have displayed total contempt for your fans, refusing to acknowldege them when they travel across the country (and in one case europe) to see you make a balls of things again, and failing to attend supporters clubs meetings when invited.
You have insisted on playing a centre-forward, whose lack of commitment, quality and effort astounds more every week, while leaving last seasons player of the year on the bench or in the U-21 team.
In most cases, any one of these appalling excuses for management would lead to a dismissal, but we all know that won't happen, so Liam, if you have any shame at all GO NOW

Dear Éanna

Dear Éanna,

I think you are being too hard on Liam Murphy.

He got rid of Tynan because he was causing trouble and saying he sound be in the first team, Tynan although skillful is too weak to make it at Premier Division level. Herrick wasnt making the team and as a result wanted out. He wasnt that great a player. Greg has caused trouble for every manager he ever had and we still have the option on taking him back. Colin O'Brien can and probally will be taken back.

Murphy has gotten the very best out of a young and cheeply assembled team. He's brought through some amazing talent such as Carey, Bennett, O'Grady and CP O'Brien. O'Grady for me is the best signing any manager ever made, we got one of the best midfielders in the Eircom League on a free!

I'm not saying Murphyis perfect, far from it but he is still very much lerning the trade, and has taken a very limited bunch of players very far in a short space of time. He gets the best out of players like Hartigol, which says something for him.

He makes silly mistakes, (Haritgol ahead of CP or Morley) substitutions and some stupid attempts at using 5-3-2 but in general I think the fella is doing a good job. If we get a UEFA spot this year we will be doing very well and have our selves set up for a nice title shot next year.

I'd hardly call the squad we started this season with 'limited'. It is limited NOW, due to Murphy p!ssing off half the sqaud.

Does he really get the bst out of him? I'd hate to see what Hartigol would be capable of if he didnt care or didnt try.

As for UEFA spot. Fine, but does it not give you a sense of deja vu???

Not really

People say it's like Dave Barry all over again. I would not agree, Murphy will always give the younger player the benefit of the doubt which I find very encouraging.

I know the Man has serious flaws but he is still lerning the job, if he can do this well whilst lerning imagne what we'd be like when he becomes even more professional.

I'd dispute that

He spends all his time at foot ball if it is't with City it's with the Course in Stiofán Naofa. The man is lerning and picking things up as he goes along.

He hassaid atmany times before that he wants the club to go more professional.

Give the man until the end of the Season then cast Judgment.

SOC you must either be one of liam's sons or the most nieve of supporters i have met in a long while. Gunther is spending all his time with football, thats a fair point but there is no excuse for some of the unbeleivable mistakes he has made no matter how much experianc r lac of it he has

you give gunther till the end of the season , who knows how many more players he will have driven out of the club, and the state we will be in.

Happy Chrstmas though and Gunther OUT

Neither

I just think people are jumping on the Murphy Out wagon too quickly.

He has made mistakes but he has done quite well with what we have. I still think that the league is within our grasp, however UEFA Cup would be doing well.

It is very worring, the amount of players leaving, but most are either on loan, where we can still have them back, or only on the transfer list.

After all the teams above us come to the Cross then Murphy can be judged.

I know the man has faults of San Andreas magnitude but I dont think he is being given a proper chance. Mountfield wasnt given a proper chance either now was he, and we saw what happened.

Merry Christmas

ok here we go

1 if you check back through the threads from oh several months ago I and others were getting slated for highlighting Murphys flaws when we were doing very well and was told to shut up, sure weren't we winning all our matches, so aint jumping on no wagon here....and it may seem to you like some people are. To me it looks like at last the penny has dropped and people are taking note of my inate rantings.

but heres what I cant fathom about arguement SOC..you say that Murphy has faults of "San Andreas Magnitude" which BTW I completely agree with you over...but then a few lines later you ed with "Murph Stays"..

So what are you saying ..youre happy with a man with such obvious and such largefaults managing your team.!!

UNBELIEVABLE

cause I sure as hell aint happy with such an inept person in charge of my club.

Murphy Out

(methinks old SOC had too much egg-nog while posting that one )

Faults

Yes He has faults (tis a rare man who has no faults)but yes I still want him to manage our team because despite his faults he does have stuff going for him too.

The point I'm trying(but failing) to make is that I think during the course of the season he might be able to patch these up, because if he could we would be flying.

Murphy has got things going for him, even the most anti of anti-Murfs would be impressed with the way he has brought through young players. He made the best signing even when he brought O'Grady to the club, he has shielded CP O'Brien very well from all the hype and attention that would go to a young fella's head.

Sorry James, did mean that you were jumping on the Bandwagon, you have voiced your opposition to him for a long time, you probally built the Murphy Out Bandwagon. I was refering to people who just add Murphy Out on the end of messages because it is in fashion.

Yeah, re. Tynan Herrick and Colin- fair points. What about Greg (who had made his peace with DM), Kelvin, Mulligan, Steven O'Flynn and Stevie Napier?!

True, but hartigan's best is nowhere near good enough! That's the problem!

He makes silly mistakes,
something a manager can't afford to be doing in his second season, surely!

I accept some of the points you make, they are valid. BUT! You were very choosy on terms of the points i made, which ones you replied to- what about: his blaming of everyone else (see my first post) and his obnoxious behaviour towards away fans(same post)?
Yes Murphy has done good things, to deny that would be wrong, but he has made too many mistakes too many times and that is the problem. MURPHY OUT!

Just thought I'd resurrect this thread. When I wrote that, I didn't think things could get much worse! Boy was I stupid. Not only has he repeated almost every one of these ****-ups, he has added to the list!
