Warwickshire Hurlers debut in the SHC

The County I used to play football in make their Senior Hurling debut this afternoon in the new Tier 3 Competition - Good luck to 'em!

    Monaghan v Warwickshire
    (Gavin Duffy Park, 18/6/05 - 15.30)
    Ref: Fergus Smith, Meath

Maybe this competition doesn't have much in glamour, but this tie has a lot in novelty. For most of us, Warwickshire is an exotic newcomer to competition, even if they have a few All-Ireland JHC titles to their name already. Saturday sees the team from the British Midlands travel to Ireland for a clash with Monaghan, and a game they are widely expected to lose. However, Monaghan will have to treat them as an unknown quantity, and the fact that London are annual victors over their opponents will matter little. Much interest, but Monaghan are used to these campaigns. The Farney men to get the win.

And Monaghan did win. Good to see other teams coming through though. London always get to compete in football, but they haven't always been British champions as far as I know.
